I think the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan changed a lot for the Secret Service. The Reagans started that administration trying to be open and available, but that ended abruptly when he was almost killed. Now the security logistics and infrastructure burdens are almost enough on their own to eliminate the public schools for any future young kids. So I don't see a POTUS putting a child into a DC school unless it is absolutely part of their image, brand or campaign.
Quite probable Amy Carter will be the answer to that trivia question for a long, long time.

FWIW - Not sure if you were talking about the Clintons or Obamas. However, thanks to the USA's extensive history with racism the Obamas had quite a few death threats. I don't think it would have been possible for the Obama daughters to go to a public school without dramatically altering the schools they were attending. And that would have only added fuel to the racist rage.
As Chelsea is an alum, I trust you weren't going there.
