It’s time for football

3d down. Both sides of ball. Just awful. So far a big steaming turd of a game.

My fault with my upbeat post after the first drive.

Another delay of game, another drive stalled. Just unacceptable.

It's truly remarkable how terribly coached Stanford's offense is. No matter what plays are called, the execution is lacking all over the field.
Missed blocks. Dropped passes. Missed throws. Shotgun in 4th and 1 is bad enough, but then you get a delay of game? It's comical how bad it all is.

Can only agree. I had limited expectations this year, but this game so far has just been dreadful.

Normally I’d say unbelievable, but it isn’t

I'm just gonna call David Shaw's Offense the No Offense Huddle from here on out.
The wasted talent is criminal.

Really, the talent isn’t very talented. Plus the turtles are creating an identity that is passive.

Yep, there goes the notion that Mills coming back would create some dramatic improvement in the offense.
Maybe the second half will be better. It has only one way to go.
At least Toner has come back to form.

On the field there has been a bit of a dropoff over the last four years. In the coaching staff it's been far more substantial.
There needs to be a major housecleaning on the defensive staff after this season. There are talent, development, and scheme/gameplanning/playcalling issues almost everywhere.

Self inflicted wounds:
1. Bring in a QB on third and 1 for his first play at Stanford. In formation with 15 seconds on clock. Can’t get play off. Not blaming him. Shouldn’t have been out there. Not time to be cute.
2. Safety breaks wrong way turning 15 yard slant into 60 yard TD.
3. Wilson drops TD pass. (Second week in a row he’s dropped a key 3d down pass.
4. Colo 3d and 9. Player jumps. They make first on 3d and 4. Drive ends with TD.
5. Fourth and 1 inside 5 and they take a DOG.
Beyond all the lousy play calls etc, these are the plays that turned what should be a 20-10 lead into a 14-9 deficit.
3d down is just unbelievably bad. Both sides. I’d like to see them go up tempo second half. Just to see if they can get some rhythm etc. But they won’t.

I hope I am wrong, but it looks like we are going to lose to Colorado. Wow. It seems that we had been able to excuse much of the failure of last season to extensive injuries. But perhaps that is not the case.
