I don't remember anyone mentioning this play so I thought I'd give it it's own thread.
The sequence that begins at about 47:45 (or earlier if you want to see our full possession) and is one of the most athletic sequences I've ever seen in women's college hoops. It begins with us on offense and toward the end of the sequence you see Fran set a hard screen under the hoop that levels Parrish, who drops to the floor. While the play continues, Fran leans over and extends a hand to help Parrish up! Then Fran sees Haley put up a shot and leaves Parrish on the floor while she jumps for the rebound. In the rebounding struggle, Fran falls down and the ball ends up in Sabally's hands. It looks as if Fran winces and she may have even twisted her ankle. She is slow getting up and trails the play as Oregon pushes the pace, attacking 5 on 4. Oregon gets the ball into Parrish who is wide open in the corner...and Fran suddenly runs into the picture, accelerates as she hits the FT line and takes only three big steps from the FT line, then launches into an epic jump toward the deep left corner. Parrish probably didn't even see Fran or if she did it never occurred that Fran was even going to be part of the play, but Fran rises higher than any women hoops player I've ever seen to deflect Parrish's deep corner three out of bounds.
I've rewatched the Fran-Parrish sequence so many times and I still can't believe what happened. I still can't believe she was trying to help Parrish off the floor while the play was live and both of them were under the basket...then from being on the floor and out of the play to running to catch up...then those three big sprinting steps...and finally launching herself into orbit. My play of the year!
