Scores for our players so far:
Zhang +1 (through 7; two birdies, a bogey, and a double bogey)
Sturdza +1 (through 11; two birdies, three bogeys)
Heck +2 (through 7; two bogeys)
Becht +4 (through 12; two bogeys and a double)
So far, Switzerland is in 5th place at even par, the US is T-11 at +3, and Belgium is 20th and last at +16. But it's pretty bunched up--Sweden leads at -3, so the US can get right back in this with a good back nine from Zhang and Heck.
US now up to T-9 and just five strokes back now, but they're still +3 on the day. Some attrition taking place, so maybe just making pars will be enough to keep slowly climbing back in it. Sturdza now even par, with the other scores the same.
US now T-6 and still five strokes back. +2 on the day as Zhang went birdie-birdie on 9 and 10 to go -1 for the day while Heck bogeyed 10 to go +3.
Zhang: -1 through 11
Sturdza: -1 through 16
Heck: +3 through 11
Becht: +6 through 17
Note: when I note the standings, I'm referring to the women only, since it's only really relevant to us how our players are doing.
Zhang birdies 12 and is now -2 for the day, putting the US T-5 at +1 and four strokes back of Columbia. Meanwhile, Becht double-bogeys 18 and she finishes the day at +8. Colombia had led at -3 but both golfers bogeyed 18, so Switzerland and Sweden are tied for the lead at -2.
Zhang: -2 through 13
Sturdza: -2 through 17
Heck: +4 through 13
Becht: +8 through 18
Zhang and Sturdza are tied for the individual lead.
Zhang birdies 17 to go -3 for the day and put her one stroke ahead of Sturdza for the individual lead. Heck is +5 going into 18.
Zhang finishes the day at -3 and with the individual lead. Heck continued to fade, bogeying 18 to put her at +6 for the day, with nary a red number to be found.
