This is a difficult game to handicap. Whether McKee plays or not, plus how Cal comes out post isolation is a brobdingnagian wildcard. My guess is that Cal should be a favorite, but if McKee plays and Cal comes out flat and out of sync, we have a chance. But if McKee can’t play, or Cal comes out not showing much rust, I’m thinking this could be an ugly game.

of course Cal lost to UofA with 40 some odd players out including their top 2 (or was it 3) QBs, have now had a week off to recovery from any injuries, and given the timing of the postponement of the USC game 10 days to plan for Big Game...
Maybe the other 40 some odd weenies will test positive late this week....
I'm sure UCLA is also pleased that USC had an off week before their game on Saturday....

Arizona played Utah a lot closer this weekend than we did the weekend prior.

Stanford has been playing extraordinarily bad football these last few weeks. Unless something changes, like getting McKee and a few others back, I think they'd lose to the vast majority of Division 1 teams, and a good number of FCS teams. They lack speed, scheme, coaching, play-calling, tackling, blocking, strength, conditioning, and fire. Just atrocious. Being favored by only 4 points is probably locker room motivation for Cal.

Why does cal get to postpone a game when they claim a bunch of their players tested positive for covid, whereas Stanford has to take it on the chin when a bunch of its players are unavailable due to actual football injuries? Seems a bit like Judge Smail's broken arm to me.... Just say'n.

I did something I've never done before: bet against Stanford (as a big underdog). Easy $$ in OSU game.
For some reason, I'm hesitant to do it for Big Game, though I think a running Garbers will cause problems for Stanford's D.

I'd guess there was some arm twisting by the Pac-12 to reschedule the Cal/USC game to avoid the stigma of a COVID forfeit....so now I'm hoping that if we lose Big Game that UCLA beats Cal, and that USC beats Cal but loses to UCLA and BYU so neither Cal nor USC are bowl eligible...but that's just me being me....

Cal is way better in the trenches and runs the ball well. Cal is also better at QB than Stanford as long as McKee is out. But even if McKee plays, hard to imagine Cal not winning by at least 10 pts.

Oregon State is only #64, despite their impressive victory at Reser stadium last Saturday. Colorado is #68 and Washington is #66. In the Pac-12, only Arizona is ranked worse than Stanford. That's 6 Pac-12 teams ranked between 63 and 74, while Arizona doesn't even make the top 75.

Good for you Papa. I don’t think anybody here wants a repeat of the last five games, regardless of how they feel about the coach, the coordinators, the AD and the downward spiral of the program.
If they come out fired up, play hard and lose it’s OK. If they are flat, arm tackle and miss blocks then the staff should go, en masse.
