Vlatko Andonovski announced the January USWNT training camp this morning, and while it's a younger group with some longtime favorites absent (no Sauerbrunn, Morgan, Rapinoe, Heath, Press, or Ertz), there's still plenty of Stanford representation, even with Jane Campbell absent in favor of giving some younger keepers a look behind Naeher. The defenders, especially, look almost like an alumni game:
Alana Cook (D)
Tierna Davidson (D)
Naomi Girma (D)
Kelley O'Hara (D)
Andi Sullivan (M)
Catarina Macario (M)*
Sophia Smith (F)
* Note: while Macario was initially picked for the roster, after the French Cup draw, Vlatko decided (with presumably some heavy-handed lobbying from the Lyon coach) to leave her in France for those matches, as there won't be international matches as part of this training camp. She's still pretty central to USWNT planning going forward.
The experienced players left off the roster, including Press, aren't out of the picture moving forward, but this is a useful camp for bringing in some newer players and get them familiar with the system. Congrats to Naomi especially!
