Friday or Saturday, I started having trouble with GoStanford.com. I'd either get a blank page, or one that repeatedly tried to load, or one that only had the red bar at the top and the logos at the bottom.
When the problem persisted after rebooting, I traced it down. I use a home router that incorporates adblocks (adaway, adguard, disconnect, yoyo) into the DNS (domain name system) server. It was blocking looking up the IP address of the statcollector.sidearmsports.com domain. (I didn't experience this on a number of other similar sites (for instance, Colorado's WBB page) managed by SideArmSports. That company has a virtual monopoly on college athletic sites.)
I could get the GoStanford.com site by adding that domain to the whitelist of the adblocker part of my router.
That domain does not appear in the source of the GoStanford.com page, so it must be requiring it from one of the javascript files it loads.
Score a victory to the big data big brothers. Sigh.
