Hoping mods will allow this. There is enough interest, I believe, to justify a new thread for the upcoming season. I’ll start with win predictions - 80.
Outside Topic 2022 Giants thread

Thank you! I’ll start with my 28 man roster guess. Longo. Wade start on Dl, but Belt and LaStella do not.
Regulars : Bart, Casali, Craw, Dubon, Estrada, Flores, Duggar, Pederson, Ruf, Slater, Yaz Belt, La Stella, Williams. If Belt or La Stella on DL add Vosler. Blandino has had a great spring. But he’s not on the 40. Maybe he moves on it if Longo goes to 60. But I think that is very unlikely. If they hadn’t picked up Williams he’d have a little better shot.
Pitchers. Webb Rodon DeSclafani Wood Cobb Leone McGee Rogers Alvarez Doval Littell, Castro Beede Long
Beede only cause he’s out of options and I don’t think they want to lose the arm. If they can trade him for even a fairly low level prospect (or in a package) they will. But he’s shown very little to date. So, he’s not gonna bring anything of value. Just hard to give up on a first round pick with a live arm.
If he’s released, add Junis.

I must admit, seeing what Joey Bart did to the Fodgers yesterday got me a little pumped.
Susan Slusser suggested he might be traded when on KNBR last week, and was sort of downplaying his importance or otherwise suggesting Farhan's team isn't too high on him. I get they'd like a LH hitting Catcher, but do you really want Casali over Bart even?
Webb, Rodon, DeSclafani, Wood, and Cobb seems like maybe a better starting 5 than 2021. Keep pitches down + have another solid bullpen = good team.
It looks like the Giants are going to do a pretty good job replacing what they lost, and might get more production in some places they didn't get in 2021, but no way are they winning 107 games again.
Fangraphs says Giants will finish 85-77 and have 50% chance of making playoffs. Fangraphs predicted 77-85 before 2021 season.
I'm going with 92-70 and a Wild Card berth.

Cactus league hitting makes it difficult to figure out who should be on the roster. Currently, 22 position players have a 1.000 OPS or better on the Giants spring roster. Comparatively underwater regulars include Slater, Ruf, Duggar, Pederson, Vosler and Brandon Crawford. So this is my position player roster estimate (14 without Longoria or Late Night LaMonte Wade):
Catchers: Bart, Casali
1B: Belt
2B: La Stella, Estrada
SS: Crawford, Dubon
3B: Flores
OF: Yastrzemski, Slater, Ruf, Duggar, Gonzalez, Pederson
Pitching is going to be interesting. The Giants have 11 pitchers who have a 0.00 ERA with a WHIP of 1:00 or less. There will be some difficult cuts. The starters all look pretty good. Webb is a 5.00 ERA, the other four are between 1.17 and 1.80. Not bad for cactus. I think Sam Long won't make it, same with Jarlin Garcia, Beede, Oswalt, Huang.
Rogers will be difficult, horrible ERA right now, but led the league in games pitched in both 2020 and 2021. 12-4 career record, 7-1 last year, 13 saves, 2.22 ERA. I think he'll get the benefit of the doubt. Sub-1.100 career WHIP. If he had enough innings, he'd be #6 in career MLB WHIP among current major leaguers.
I think 13 pitchers will be on the roster to start:
Starters: Webb, Rodon, DeSclafani, Wood, Cobb
Set up men: Rogers, Doval, Littell, Leone
Others: Brebbia, Alvarez, Castro
Closer: McGee
That's 27. Wade & Longoria on injured list to start season. 28th...not sure. Blandino, maybe?
Catchers: Bart, Casali

80 wins? Seriously? With the starting rotation that they have, you have them as a below .500 team. Wow. The D-backs are projected to win 65 and the Rockies 68, they are two of the worst teams in the NL and will play the Giants 38 times. Even a hundred point drop in win percentage gets them to 91. I'll be an optimist and go 93, a .575 win percentage.

Win prediction. - 90
Roster -
Bart, Casali, Belt, Estrada, LaStella, Crawford, Dubon, Flores, Williams, Yaz, Duggar, Ruf, Peterson, Slater
Five starters plus Rogers, Littell, Dotal, Leone, Brebbia, Alvarez, McGee, Garcia and either Castro or Long.
The option game will force SF to put Garcia on the roster (no options left) and push either Castro or Long (both have options remaining) onto the Sacramento Express to start the season.
Note: The new option limitation of five does not become effective until May 2. I would expect the Giants to liberally exercise that loophole in the month of April.
The big question is what happens on May 2 when the roster limit drops to 26 (and the pitcher limit is set at 13). Will the Giants finally give up on Dubon and/or Duggar (neither have an option remaining)?

Jarlin Garcia is a lock. So is Rogers. What either do in ST is irrelevant as both are established. 28 suggests 14/14 split. Blandino not on forty, which makes it tough.

A little surprised on Castro. But both he and Junis have options. We will see them both in SF this year. They essentially have about a 20 man pitching staff. Really down to 4 to cut. Auerbach and Martinez are not on 40. They will be sent down (unsure if Martinez has to be DFA’d. He also may be hurt). That leaves one infielder. Either Vosler or Williams, unless La Stella lands on DL. Williams more versatile. My guess is he stays. Although they might want the left handed bat. Pitchers, I think it’s between Brebbia and Long.

The Padres and Athletics have agreed to a four-player trade that will send veteran left-handed starter Sean Manaea to San Diego, the teams announced Sunday. The Padres will also receive minor-league right-hander Aaron Holiday, while Oakland nets right-hander Adrian Martinez and teenage infielder Euribiel Angeles. (from CBS Sports).
Manaea was to be the opening day starter for the A's. Once was a brobdingnagian A's fan 70's, 80's and early 90's. What a disgrace that organization has become.
Might knock a win or two off for the Giants over the season.

Article on new technology that allows catcher to transmit the pitch he wants instead of putting down fingers.
Personally, I think pitchers just need to do what Bob Gibson would do if he thought they were stealing signs. Call for a slider away. And when he leans, he gets to taste dirt. Nothing at the head of course. Ribs are sufficient…..

I was thinking of this the other day how many pitchers actually threw sliders in the 60s?
Bigger question. I have Comcast have always recorded every Giant game and they pop up each year. Not this year. Are the Giants not on Comcast tv ? 720? Or slow due to the delayed star of the season?
