when I'm in the Philippines.
This is how I see UCLA's rotation:
starting SF - 5'11 JACQUEZ (2022 #19 overall)
starting PF - 6'4 BESSOIR (Germany senior national team)
starting CC - 6'7 BETTS (2022 #1 overall)
starting PG - 5'11 RICE (2022 #2 overall)
starting SG - 5'9 OSBORNE (2019 #22 overall, starting SG of 2023 USA national team to the Americup)
back-up SF - 6'3 SONTAG (Germany senior national team)
back-up PF - 6'4 DUGALIC (2020 #22 overall, Serbia senior national team)
back-up CC - 6'3 IWUALA, 6'4 MUSE, 6'4 ANSLEY
back-up PG/SG - 5'5 JONES (2022 #22 overall)
back-up SG - 5'11 BROWN
I can see why UCLA is pre-season nationally ranked anywhere from #2 to #4.
They are just stacked!
Compare that to Stanford's rotation:
starting SF - 6'2 BOSGANA (Greece senior national team)
starting PF - 6'3 IRIAFEN (2021 #19 overall)
starting CC - 6'4 BRINK (2020 #3 overall)
starting SG - 6'0 JUMP (one of the best pure 3-point shooter in the country)
starting PG - 5'7 LEPOLO (starting PG of 2023 USA U19 world champions)

Yes UCLA has a lot of talented players but the unknown is do they make a good team? They don’t have great outside shooting from their guards which means defenses are going to sag and make life miserable for any post player or guard trying to penetrate. If you don’t think that matters, just look at how effectively teams were able to defend us last year but completely sagging off Jones and always having an extra defender in the paint.

rice was in the 20s for the whole season, but she picked up as the season went on. in her final 3 games she was 3 for 6, and she killed us on mid-range jumpers.
these figures are not hannah jump, but imo they're not shabby either.
i don't like that they appear to me to be an outstanding team, but they do.

sure, if you pick osborne's worst year rather than her overall %. link
and good luck to us matching elena against jaquez, who was, to my eyes, the star of the McDonald's all-star game
