You took strong exception when I posted that given they'd already thrown to Ayom at least twice on the drive, TT went to the well too often on that last play, and that the play called was ridiculous and poorly executed. The "under" defender knocked Ayomanor off this route and the safety rapidly came over to assist.

I simply don't believe TT runs an offense where the QB has to throw to a predetermined receiver. Even high schools don't do that. Like most passing offenses there is undoubtedly a "primary" receiver. Oftentimes that is Ayomanor, because he is our most athletically gifted receiver. That doesn't mean there are no secondary ones. Yes, Daniels should have tried to hit someone else. However that option was an integral part of the play that was called. There were at least four other receivers on the play. One was fairly well covered. Two were open and "available". The other one was off the screen so I don't know.

the target was predetermined because daniels had already made up his mind when he broke the huddle to whom he would throw.

it is not that daniels did not read the defense well.  he did not read it at all.

should've kept trying to pick up 5-10 yard chunks to get closer for field goal try.  in that sense, not necessarily a bad play call to send ayom a bit deeper...but as a decoy as wake would be all over him. 

absolutely horrible decision and execution by daniels.  but what else should we expect?

Expect this: If TT doesn't snag a hot-sh!t QB in the next year he's gone the year after. Yes, it is that stark and ugly. Another thing: Building a real O-Line is no less essential. What Stanford has right now is inferior to put it politely. I cannot believe how far and how quickly this program has declined. Game attendance says it all.
