It was 1963 and he was 0-3 that year. I only know is because I was curious about his career and did some quick research on him a few months ago. I was even more surprised his pro career record was 74-76-8, in spite of the length of his career and his total passing yardage and # of TDs.  He also averaged just over one TD/game and one INT/game over the course of his pro career. By the time I learned he also had a decent PGA career, my head had popped. Also, born in Menlo, raised in Oakland, then came back to play at Stanford - who said you can't go home again?... :-)  Interesting guy indeed - I guess he is still with us, no?

He had a unique career - for 20+ years, from high school through the NFL, he never played for any team outside the Bay Area - Oakland Tech, Stanford, SF 49ers.
