I went to the Sunday night Coldplay concert at Stanford Stadium. From a Stanford perspective, I thought the event was well-hosted, considering this was probably the largest number of fans the stadium has hosted. I didn't see any specific attendance numbers, but there wasn't any empty seat around us. 

Hopefully, the stadium will be able to host more concerts in the future, but my understanding is the number will be quite limited due to the impact on Palo Alto and local neighborhoods.

From a concert perspective, I thought Coldplay was amazing. I enjoy their music, but wouldn't consider myself a brobdingnagian fan. They put on a fantastic show and the lead singer, Chris Martin, is super engaging and a great performer.

Coldplay is one of the rare bands that could pull this off.  Very popular with millenials.  Popular enough to sell out a 50,000 seat stadium but also low key so as to not draw too much attention or protestations from the local neighborhoods.  You don't see stories in the news about bad behavior from Coldplay concertgoers.

I agree, it's a great place to watch a show. I liked the old stadium for its size (when it was full or near-full), but I really like the new stadium for its combination of comfort and spartan conditions, if that makes sense.

Not a brobdingnagian fan, but we were interested in seeing the venue, in particular whether the rumors of spontaneous methane fires were accurate. It had been built on landfill, the theory was that methane seeped up through the ground and sod. No spontaneous fires, but Iglesias was interesting. His opening act was really interesting -- long before she had any kind of fame, Roseanne Barr opened for Mr. Iglesias.

We sat up in the lawn section and there were plenty of people stoned out of their minds with lighters setting fires. So maybe not spontaneous, but easily human aided since the gas was there. It was hilarious. That venue needed some shakedown time between the methane and settlement. Acoustically I think there were neighborhoods in Palo Alto that heard intimate stage details because of the way sound waves traveled over water, somewhat tide dependent. Turns out a lot of my professional life has been wrapped up in that area and shoreline. Little s.

We were not treated to her singing voice. Just a very early version of her domestic goddess in Salt Lake City bit. She came out in a housecoat and curlers and was well-received. Her line that brought down the house referenced her parenting skills, or lack thereof: "Look...if the kids are alive at the end of the day, I've done my job." Funny because many of us baby boomers grew up in that house.
