Stanford recruit Amir Carlisle is the San Jose Mercury News Athlete of the Week. Here\'s the write-up:
AMIR CARLISLE, THE KING\'S ACADEMY
Sport: Football
Position: Running back
Class: Senior
Carlisle, who made an early commitment to Stanford, ran for 297 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-28 victory over Terra Nova. Known for his speed, Carlisle showed off a variety of moves while piling up 24 carries against a Tigers squad that entered the game undefeated in league play. "He juked some guys, ran away from some of them, and just flat out ran over a couple," The King\'s Academy coach Ron Kellner said. "He was electrifying." Carlisle leads the Central Coast Section with 1,298 rushing yards and has 16 touchdowns on the season. The 4.0 student is drawing interest from several big-time college football programs but expects to play at Stanford next fall. Until then, he\'ll continue to be a terror for opposing defenses. "He worked hard over the summer, so as the season has gone on, he has just kept getting better and better," Kellner said. "With his vision, speed and acceleration, it makes coaching easy."
