Stanford\'s offense does not look good when Connecticut defends us in anything other than a straight-up man-to-man defense, and some not-particularly-smart plays have turned what was an eleven point lead into a four point lead at half, with the uncomfortable feeling that I\'ve seen this movie before and the ending isn\'t good.

Ohmigod I am so beyond stoked. What a game! Leading from start to finish. No lucky bounce, no flukes, no second-half comeback. Gino is a jerk (for his post-game comments).

Awesome, great game!!   So fun to be in Maples, which was packed and jumping!   Our defense was outstanding!    Jeanette Pohlen was amazing.  Lots of former players there (not sure whether they showed them on ESPN).   It was like being back at the Final Four.   Only this time we won!!

The win speaks volumes for the team\'s resolve. Great win!

The Card beat the #4 team by 37 and turn around in 2 days and beat #1 by 12.
No other team in WCBB has done anything close to that this year. Few teams even try to take on 2 top five teams back-to-back within days.

(Stanford hasn\'t gotten much consideration for having Pederson out for DePaul and not yet all there for the Tenn game; who they still played to a draw in 40 minutes -- at Tenn. So don\'t expect any big jump in the polls.)

And it looked like the Card could still play much, much better.

Great win by Tara\'s team!   First Xavier and now UConn.  Wow,  just wow.

The best thing about today\'s win is that the team didn\'t look like they\'d "peaked" like so many past Stanford teams that won big games at mid-season.  This year\'s Cardinal can, and probably will be playing better at the end of the season.  

Could this be the year?

I\'m probably hypersensitive, but,

when the (stupid!!) interviewer kept asking him about what it took for a 90-game streak, he just kept repeating what a great team they were, how you have to play EVERY night, etc, etc., etc.

One of my peeves was that there was nothing about how great the night was for women\'s basketball.

When asked about the defeat, he quickly opined that "Maya never really got started tonight." [It was Maya\'s fault we lost, right.]

Tara and Jeanette were pretty good I though in at least deflecting the individual glory away from themselves--and away from Connecticut--by each stating that "This is about Stanford."

Geno\'s always been selfish.  No surprise there.

But he\'s right about one thing: that team lives or dies by Maya Moore.  Last year\'s UConn team was pretty much the same, except with a stronger supporting cast.  I guess it didn\'t help that the UConn backup PG was out with injury.

I thought what Geno said on TV was very gracious. Naturally he was going to focus on his team; moreover, that\'s what the questions asked him were about, particularly when they were asking about the streak. He still made a point to say a lot of great things about Stanford.

Did it strike anyone else as odd that the ESPN broadcast crew made no mention of the fact that two games were added to UConn\'s early-season schedule, ensuring that the Huskies would have the chance to win #89 before playing at Stanford? This merited a mention.
