Line vs. Cal - Austroturf - 11-13-2022

Bears are 5.5 point favorites vs. the Cardinal for Big Game.  We suck, they suck.  The betting line is predicting that the Weenies, at home, will suck a little less than Stanford on the road.

Cal just fired their OC and OL coach, so it's now even more of a question mark.

Give em the axe, the axe, the axe . . . 'cause we don't deserve it.

You are a very funny guy, Marty. I always enjoy the visual images you dredge up at the speed of light to express your and often our feelings during the game.

Best wishes,

You can fire coaches?
After watching Stanford the past few years I had no idea...

RE: Line vs. Cal - newguy - 11-13-2022

Here's hoping we at least improve on last year's performance.

Yeah, I definitely would be willing to take Stanford if someone offered me 30 points.

Haven't you heard? Our coaches were granted tenure...

So if weenies win, any further reflection on the Suck Index of Shaw's program? Probably just another Rorschach. All in the eye of the beholder.

It’s a battle to avoid last place in the PAC-12. I suppose there is some symbolic importance to that (and to beating rivals), but I think the evidence is already pretty overwhelming that the years 2019-2022 (perhaps excepting the weird COVID year) have been brutal for Stanford football, and that there is no sign to suggest that we are improving. In fact, I think the evidence suggests that November is a particularly bad month for Shaw since 2019, which to me tells me we are regressing as the season moves forward. To be honest, it is only Cal’s almost equally brutal offense that has me thinking this shouldn’t be a double-digit spread, but I would hardly be surprised if the final score is something like 20-3.

I don’t know of anyone who keeps track of the stat, but the number of three-and-outs that the offense has produced, especially the last few games, is brutal.

If we lose, then we will most likely be in joint last place with Colorado (which is still last place).  If the Bears lose, they will most likely own the cellar all alone due to their previous loss to Colorado.  I say we beat them and allow them to enjoy the cool basement of the Pac-12 all alone.  We are currently dead last because we have played one more conference game and hence have one more loss than Cal and Colorado.  The Buffs still play Washington and Utah, while the Bears have us and the Bruins.

The line vs Cal . . . will be missing blocks and tackles.
