So far so good. Stanford leads 23-14 at the end of Q1.

what's the point of putting in a substitute and pulling them after 1 minute.
MAS getting minutes because it's her birthday

Amborn in at the end of the qtr

FSU isn’t very athletic and don’t have players who can consistently stop Agara or Ogden. Makes offense a lot simpler. Similarly, none of their players have been able to drive consistently, which makes defense a lot easier. Their size has caused a few issues though.
The Miami team we just lost against lost to FSU on the road by 17 just 2 weeks ago.

Best game of the year by the now 21 year old MAS

Keep your fingers crossed.

What’s the point asking the same question when you keep getting the same answer?

When a player makes a mistake, they usually come out. Whether it is because they are tired, playing sloppily, ot being outplayed, someone else may play more effectively

And now in Q3 FSU is hurting us with drives. Will the defense adjust, or do we have an actual game on our hands? Clardy is in a massive 3 pt shooting slump right now.
Also transition D is suddenly a problem as well.

Yes, getting beat down the floor once, fine, but three times in 5 minutes? Yeesh.
I also never want to see MAS looking to pass with all four players standing still. What is anyone expecting is going to happen? Either everyone needs to be cutting and switching or we need someone who is a threat to create to be in possession.
I am really liking the high low game from Ogden to Agara. Can't remember seeing that before but it's great, and it works because Ogden is a threat to shoot from anywhere.

Clardy just asked you to hold her EANAB. We are so much better when our guards can threaten from outside.
We looked really low energy in those last few minutes. Unless something changes I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see us blow this.

Glad she hit 1 - but that still leaves her 1-6. And it’s been a few games now where she has been way off. Maybe too many minutes with Lepolo out?
Stanford by 14 now so it’s still a ballgame.
And FSU now shooting 3 FTs. Not out of the woods yet.
The zone has really shut us down in this half. Agara and Ogden can’t simply use space to take on their helpless defenders anymore.
And bizarrely, FSU came out of the zone resulting in an Agara and 1, an Ogden basket and a Clardy 3.
Not blowing it now.

We win 77-61.
This game shows we have the talent to be a tournament team.

Well we pull it out. There were some doubtful moments but we got it done.
Nice.

Kind of a season microcosm game.
When Agara and/or Ogden can operate, the offense is OK. See the first half and late in the second. If the other team can defend those 2, the offense doesn’t work and there is no plan B. See half 2 when FSU was in the zone.
The defense can be very good, but is vulnerable to the drive. There isn’t a consistent shot blocker, and the whole structure falls apart when opponents can drive. Again see half 1 (good) vs. half 2 (bad).
Glad to see Clardy get some rest time and Amborn play a few meaningful minutes even if she isn’t physically ready yet. Overall, a better spread of minutes though Eschmeyer didn’t play enough and Ogden and Agara barely were off the court.
Improvement at least today, and a win is always better then a loss.

i agree. every recent opponent shuts us down with a zone. we simply have no answer for a zone defense. why fsu would go back to player-to-player after getting our lead down to single digits sure beats me. but i'll take it.

Clemson just beat Duke in its first top ten win since 2022, breaking Duke's 15-game ACC winning streak. Clemson player Hannah Kohn hit a three-pointer with 3 seconds to go.

I'm very glad for the win today. Team needed that badly. Last two games at home coming up. SMU is terrible and should be an easy win at home. Clemson is pretty good so I don't know how that plays out. Two months ago I would have said we are home and should take it. Now I have no clue how the team will play. Clemson at home is the sort of game a good team buckles down and wins. We shall see...

Sure hope so. Clemson just beat Duke; I'm hoping they are over-confident.
