Great writeup, thanks!  The WBB team's success and potential is once again giving me way too much hope :)

I don't actually remember if Stanford won a national championship last year...(did they?)...but I hope the presumptive streak stays alive with women's basketball this year.  (Men's water polo has a shot too!)

WVB won last season. That actually was in fall 2019!

I think there were some others too... no offense meant to those I've forgotten.

Women’s Volleyball
Men’s Golf
Men’s Water Polo
Mens Gymnastics
Women’s tennis
Women’s Water polo
Women’s Swinming

This was calendar year 2019

RE: WBB: on to San Antonio - PVTree - 03-12-2021

Women's soccer too... Although that may have been 2020.

OUr streak runs academic years.  So, for academic year 2019/20 men's water polo and women's volleyball won national titles.

We have a number of shots on goal for the 2020/21 year, but none that are sure bets:
men's water polo (won the MPSF tournament)
women's basketball
men's soccer
women's cross country
those are probably the best shots.

RE: WBB: on to San Antonio - M T - 03-13-2021

Ah, come on guys, March to early April is Bluebonnet (and Paintbrushes) season.  Find out where they're blooming, and take a drive.  You can go to the River Walk or the Alamo any day of the year. There are many great barbeque restaurants. (In the Stanford area, Armadillo Willy's is similar to Texas BBQ)
https://rove.me/to/texas/bluebonnets-bloom (one page of many, do your own search)
April is getting late in the season, so you'll likely need to head north as the southern areas will have already peaked.

For those that don't know, the highway department and other organizations spread seeds out (the preceding September), so it isn't all natural, but acres of bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes are still beautiful.  The highway department schedules cutting of the highway frontage areas to be just before the bluebonnet season and not again until after.  (Oh, for those from California: Don't go blithely tromping about.  Rattlesnakes and cars may not give you the right of way.)

Btw, I've already suggested to Texas that they plan for a great bluebonnet season for April 8, 2024.  I wanted to make sure they get it in their budget in time for a once in a lifetime picture.

P.S. Low angle pictures are the best for bluebonnets.  These are great for pictures of family, esp. toddlers.

During the Portland Trailblazers' march to its first and only NBA championship, coach Jack Ramsay became famous for saying, "If we play our game, we'll win."

I feel that way about this team.

Big surprise right off the bat - North Carolina State is the overall #1 seed.

I don't think they are the #1 overall seed, I think ESPN just revealed their region first

If so, that's odd. Usually these shows reveal the overall #1 seed's bracket first. Looks like Stanford will be in the same regional as either Louisville or Baylor.

RE: WBB: on to San Antonio - BobK - 03-15-2021

Washington State in as a 9 seed
Arizona a 3 seed

Oregon State an 8 seed

UCLA a 3 seed

Stanford 1 seed plays Utah valley

Then Stanford plays winner of Oklahoma State or Wake Forest

Utah Valley makes it into the tournament even though they did not win the WAC. Cal Baptist won the tournament (and finished 24-0). But they are still transitioning to D1 and are ineligible for the NCAA tournament. The WAC gave the automatic bid to Utah Valley.

If Oklahoma State gets past Wake Forest, Stanford would have the challenge of stopping Natasha Mack. 19.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 4 blocks per game.
