We are not playing badly except for missing shots we normally make. Tess Heal has missed a few wide open threes, for example. Umeh has played really, really well, both on defense and even a steal and drive to the basket. But she misses almost everything, including free throws. Unfortunately, the game is about the ball going through the hoop.

At this juncture, we are 3/8 on layups.
With Nunu out, we can't afford Demetre and Bosgana both to be in foul trouble. They are.

I think our defensive energy has been really good. It's the offense. Lots of open, missed, great shots. Let's attack the basket more! Hope we can hang around.

25-32 at the half. Rebounding has been horrific. Assists rare. Shooting percentage poor. Defense not terrible, except for the inability to stop Matilda Eck, who is 6/6.
Being down only 7 points after that offensive house of horrors is actually encouraging. If we can fix some problems defending Eck and start hitting our normal shots, we could be in the game at the end, despite not having Nunu.
Reasons for poor rebounding: Nunu out, Demetre played only 15 minutes and was worried about more fouls, and Bosgana played only 4 minutes. Bosgana has been a terrific rebounder, and she was essentially out after 2 quick fouls.
We need our seniors Demetre and Bosgana to have absolutely terrific 2nd halves, without fouling.

Missed layup after missed layup is no way to win a game. VT's turnovers are keeping us in the game...barely

Down eleven and Paye calls a time out early in the 3rd. The game has not been lost yet, but it feels bad. Can Bosgana put it in high gear and "go off?" We need something like that, some outrageously good performance to turn this around. Bosgana has 0 points so far.
Umeh's inability to move with the spin moves of more agile opposing posts was put on display. She is improving, but she can be victimized on defense. And she is 1-3 with 2 turnovers so far. I expect she will make a lot of improvement by her sophomore year.
Ogden is having one of her better games. 9 points on 4-7 so far.
Demetre and Bosgana still non factors halfway through the 3rd quarter. With those two going cold and our star out, the game is going about as one would expect.
A 7-0 run closes it to a 4 point deficit and VT calls a time out. We are struggling, but VT is not a superior team.
Giving up that final layup as time ran out in the 3rd was really bad.
We scratched back to make it a two point game, but the VT lead is back to 7 going into the 4th. We are not seeing the contributions from Bosgana and Demetre we need. Clardy and Ogden are doing their parts. Our seniors are 2-9.

Really hoping that someone in the 2025 class can offensive rebound and then go back up quickly for an easy bucket. We’ve been spoiled with Iriafen and Brink for the last 4 years. Agara can do it somewhat but Demetre and Stevenson refuse to even shoot the ball if they get a rebound.

It is shocking that the game is not out of reach, given the poor performance, foul trouble, or injury by all our top players. Clardy and Ogden, two sophomores, are trying to put the team on their backs. I doubt it is enough without a little help, but it is encouraging to see their play so much improved. But 8 points from our seniors will not get it done.

2 pts down with 2 minutes to go. We are still in it. We deserve a little good luck after losing all those close games.
Demetre had an open 3 for the lead and missed, she just is stone cold.
Ogden misses 2 free throws and a foul deep into the shot clock at the other end, not a good turn of events. 2 possession game with 45 seconds left. We missed a great opportunity.
