The bracket - https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-women/article/2025-03-16/2025-wbit-bracket-schedule-tv-channels-womens-basketball-tournament

Game will be streamed on Thursday at a time TBD on ESPN+.

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - 81alum - 03-16-2025

So if I understand this properly, we will play 29-4 Portland at Maples on Thursday.  Portland is an excellent team which we have played in recent years a couple of times.  It will be a real challenge.

Then, if we win, we will get the winner of Seton Hall/ Quinnipiac also at Maples, on Sunday.  Two home games--a real opportunity for us.

If we could win both those games, then we would be in the quarterfinals.  If St. Josephs also reaches the quarterfinals then we would play at St. Josephs in Philadelphia on next Thursday, since they are the 2 seed and we are the 3 seed.  But if someone knocks them off then we could have a third home game.

All fanciful speculation.  We need to worry most about Portland.  They scare me based on their record, their coach, and the fact that we needed Brink and Iriafen to beat them.  We did beat them 81-51 at Maples a year ago December.  Demetre, Bosgana, and Clardy all played a fair bit in that game, so Portland is not an unknown team to us.  But they have 3 double digit scorers, all three graduate students.

Portland this year lost to Gonzaga twice and Oregon State twice, but all four losses were tight games.  They beat Washington State three times this year.  Massey has them at 51 (we are 40), with their best win being over 52 Princeton and their worst loss being the two to 84 Oregon State.  So they were favored to beat Oregon State but did not.

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - Nobadeer - 03-16-2025

The Portland roster shows 3 New Zealanders, 2 Aussies, a Swede . . . and a player named Hull, from central Washington state. Any relation to the famous LSJU Hulls from eastern Washington?

Portland has been something of an ANZAC team for some time now.  Certain teams seem to do a lot of recruiting in other regions of the world.  Washington State comes to mind as well.

As for Trista Hull, I do not know if there is a distant relationship, but her parents are Jennifer and Brian from Yakima, while Lexie and Lacie's parents are Jaime and Jason from Spokane.

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - bl82 - 03-17-2025

Trista Hull certainly looks the part of someone who could be related to Lexie and Lacey

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - 81alum - 03-17-2025

Question about the tickets for the tournament.  The email I received indicates that I would be charged "for each round" that we host, which could theoretically be up to three rounds.  And it looks like the charge, given where I sit, would be $40-45.  That could be $120+.  How much did it cost when we hosted the NCAAs?  I seem to remember something much more modest than that, and a single ticket got you in to all three games on the first weekend.  Am I mis-remembering?

Just for reference, I purchased my seats last night.  My season tickets are on the baseline at the Stanford end, 2nd row (not courtside).  The purchase was for Thursday's game only and the cost was $20 per seat.

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - petersalas - 03-17-2025

I understood the same.. NCAA all session tickets were about $30 in the past.. but we didn’t have the option of reserving our own seats since they were released to the NCAA depending on what section we sit.

My understanding from the email/site was that we were signing up for tickets and would be charged $40 for each game Stanford hosts. If Stanford wins the first, they get to host the second and we will be charged whether we like it or not.

I was miffed to see that UNLV is charging a mere $16 for the same tournament.

I checked last year's receipt, and it was $40 for the first round (in a displaced seat) and another $40 for the second round.

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - petersalas - 03-17-2025

At least for the first round, it includes both games. I guess everything is more expensive nowadays.

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - crackpot - 03-18-2025

If I'm reading my ticket correctly, it's only for the Stanford game at 7 pm.

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - petersalas - 03-18-2025

That’s the only game. The other game will be played at Seton Hall, I believe. The winner will then travel to Stanford assuming they win Thursday.

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - petersalas - 03-19-2025

I initially thought it was going to be a pod system, but this is new for us.. lol. I don’t plan on getting used to this because we won’t be out of the NCAA tournament in the future.

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - WBB fan - 03-19-2025

As I understand things, per a conversation my husband had with the athletic office this morning, if the women win tomorrow night, then there will be a doubleheader on Sunday at Maples -- both men and women -- each #2 seeds in their respective tournaments -- playing their 2nd round games at home.

Of course, to have that happen, the women need to beat Portland. But no matter what happens on Thursday, the men play at Maples on Sunday since they won last night. Game time for the men tbd -- and that will interact with the women's game time should the women win

The organization handling the tickets to the women's baketball game(s), Vivenu, is not a Stanford organization, though they try to pose as
part of the Athletic Dept when you contact them.  They are a private outside company - a contractor.  Keep that in mind if you have an issue with tickets and be prepared to deal directly with the Athletic Dept. if necessary.

My first reaction--GREAT!!!

Then...what are they going to do about seating? Forget that we agreed to pay $40 for our own seat only to be told, oops, we're changing them all to GA?

RE: WBB: Postseason tournament - petersalas - 03-20-2025

I think the women will play Sunday at 2:00 and the men at 6:00. I imagine you’ll have to pay individually for each.

Just got the confirmation of this. Women at 2 (if they win tonight), men at 6. And yes, the tix are separate.

As I sit here fretting about what bottom-of-the-barrel refs we might see tonight, The Athletic has an article on the ***show that is WBB reffing.
