It’s sweet when it’s a little unfair disadvantage. These refs sucked but this time Stanford didn’t let them affect the game! They fought and played hard. Some players stepped up, especially the underclass men

Overall, though, this team is being led by the juniors… our three best players are Agara, Clardy, and Ogden, with the latter really coming on strong the last few games.

Great win! I didn't post during the game as I was watching it on delay.

And someday, our current freshmen will be juniors and the thought makes me miss them already!

It’s a win against a pretty good team, but I am not exactly sure what to make of this team yet.
The big positive I can see is they have better depth this year at least defensively, and maybe Paye can mix and match pieces by game and make it work.
They are pretty good overall defensively as well.
Offense is a struggle though often this season. Ogden was good but a little inefficient. Somfai had a solid offensive day as well, and Swain got a few layups to drop late. But PG wasn’t great in this one - Clardy and Lepolo combined for 5-19 though Clardy was much the better of the 2 today and got many more minutes. Agara struggled on offense. Beyond Clardy, the bench scored 2 points.
Gotta expect that the Frosh keep improving.

Probably comes as no surprise, two thumbs up from me for the minutes distribution. A total of 24 for Lepolo (16) and MAS (8), down from their average of 42. Also happy to see 16 minutes for Alex, about double what she has seen in past competitive games. Coincidentally (?), that was the best win of the season. We were 4.5 point underdogs going in.

Hopefully we won't have a letdown against Cornell as conference play gets going in the new year. While the ACC doesn't have a powerhouse this year, there are a lot of quality teams such as NC State, Notre Dame and North Carolina that will provide us a more accurate measuring stick to grade our team against and higher level competition for the frosh to improve

T and Chloe didn’t have the best game, but I do think giving Alex and Shay a chance made a difference. I think Kate is trusting players a little more and we need this. I left Chase this season ecstatic. It’s been a fun weekend. Lara is such a strong and confident player. It’s such a difference from what we’ve seen.

Great win over the Dux less than 48 hours after the emotional comeback victory vs. UW. Oregon shot very poorly, couldn't hit water falling off a boat. Their starters made a total of 12 FG the entire game.
Decent crowd, it seemed like almost as many USC fans as the other three schools combined.
Tara was sitting courtside next to the basket near the LSJU bench. How would you like to be Coach KP with your former boss/legend/mentor about 30 feet away, right in your line of sight on possessions in that half of the court! Tara mostly stoic, looked almost as locked in as when she was the coach, and some occasional gentle clapping other than at halftime and postgame when maybe the tv cameras were activated and she suddenly jumped up and went over to vigorously high five the players!

Best win for Stanford this season. Despite the restrictive (and very slow developing) offense that Coach Paye continues to use, players are adjusting and stepping up. Ogden continues to impress. You can see her confidence growing. The game has slowed down for her (finally) and while the consistency is not quite there, she is showing her ability to take over games, offensively. Somfai once again came back from a poor first half and made her presence felt with another double-double. Although neither Clardy or Swain played their best, I liked the fact that Paye gave them a lot more minutes than Lepolo.
Same with Eschmeyer, who played 16 minutes and although she didn't attempt a shot, her presence on the defensive end altered several Oregon shots and she had a big offensive rebound. Eschmeyer's teammates must look for her more. She is still 'a project', but her size and length can give Stanford another big weapon. The few lobs (into her) were way over her head.
Nunu obviously did not have a decent game. Perhaps she's recovering from an illness.
Good win.

I'm not disappointed with the offensive output given that Oregon has a top 25 defense as of now (#22 per Herhoopstats). While we ran up a lot of points on them the last season we played them, Oregon's defense seems much improved this year.
2023/24 (Oregon DR #144)
Stanford pts scored: 88 (H), 76 (A)
2022/23 (Oregon DR #51)
Stanford pts scored: 76 (N), 62 (A)
2021/22 (Oregon DR #26)
Stanford pts scored: 66 (H), 80 (A)
In the meantime, here's some areas where Stanford is ranked top 50 statistically:
Stat National_Rank
Def Reb Rate 77.1% #8
FT% 80.2% #10
Total Reb Rate 57.1% #22
Fouls per game 13.8 #28
Opp FG% 35.2% #31
Def Rating 80.7 #36
Offensive Rating 106.2 #42
FG% 46.1% #42
I particularly like that 13.8 fouls per game figure given all the frosh minutes that are being played. In previous years Stanford's fouls per game stats were as follows:
2024/25 15.5 #101
2023/24 14.8 #56
2022/23 15.1 #71
2021/22 14.1 #26
2020/21 14.9 #41
I also really like that team defensive rebound rate of 77.1%. In the 2022/23 season, with both Brink and Iriafen at their college rebounding peaks, Stanford's team defensive rebound rate was only 74.2%. Yesterday the team had a defensive rebounding rate of 87.5% against Oregon. The highest defensive rebound rate against any Pac 12 opponent in that 2022/23 season was 70.0% (vs Arizona).
I should add that despite facing some P4 competition lately, Somfai has kept her defensive rebounding percentage up. Good not just for a frosh but among the best at Stanford since the 2009-10 season:
1 2023-24 Cameron Brink 34.2%
2 2013-14 Tess Picknell 32.3%
3 2011-12 Mikaela Ruef 31.6%
4 2025-26 Lara Somfai 31.0% (frosh)
5 2022-23 Cameron Brink 27.5%
6 2014-15 Kaylee Johnson 27.0% (frosh)
7 2012-13 Tess Picknell 26.0% (frosh)
8 2023-24 Kiki Iriafen 25.3%
9 2021-22 Cameron Brink 0.252
10 2020-21 Cameron Brink 0.243 (frosh)

Stanford WBB is receiving votes in the AP poll now, at #28. Also, they knocked Washington down from 20 to 22 by beating them.

Beating Cornell ought to catapult us into the top ten.

The team has done very well so far. Hope the cross country ACC travel is more manageable this season.
I actually thought Lepolo deserved all her minutes vs Oregon, and then some. She was eyes up in transition and vigorous on defense. Looked confident.
Eschmeyer has rebounding instincts but could benefit from more weight training? Got tied up a couple times after she had first possession.
Somfai around the basket could be more even effective if maybe she decelerated her hands slightly on release? She is so strong and quite a number of her layups and putbacks are caroming hard off the backboard and skimming over the rim.

I thought so too, and she drove in to take some shots as well. However, I continue to think +/- is a good stat. Lepolo had one of three negatives, at -5. While I have difficulties with Ijiwoye's style, I acknowledge she made a big impact, with the team-best +/- at +15 (Ogden at +13, Stevenson at +8, Eschmeyer at +7)
I appreciate +/- showing Ijiwoye at +15, even though she only had 2 points herself. She disrupted the opponent, and helped Stanford get some extra baskets.
