First time Stanford has defeated ND in mens basketball. Start of a long tradition?

Okorie with 24, JDS with 21. That’s the most scored vs ND ever.

Not thinking that was a wise shot, but when it goes in you are the hero.

One of the most satisfying Ws of the season. Great hustle plays in late 2H by JDS and then Rohosy (who also was a perfect 3 for 3 at the foul line!)
Final FT disparity was 28 FTs by ND to 16 by LSJU. In 7 road ACC games, LSJU has taken just 86 FTs while its hosts have taken 170.

Thompson also had a Huuggee 3 when USB was closing in fast. A lot of clutch shots late in the game for us.
Can't say the same about our FT shooting %. Okorie with a few misses. Surprisingly, Rohosy hit his 2.
Good win to keep the momentum going. Let's get the 20th of the year vs. the Pack.

I have no idea if it was correct, but the announcers seemed to credit Kyle Smith with the drawn up play…?

So satisfying as a fan to see guys besides Okorie come up with clutch shots in the final minutes. Have to admit the Thompson three just about gave me a heart attack, but he was open, for sure. I also thought Stanford's defense played well and guys fought for rebounds. Wish the free throws had gone down at a higher percentage, but overall the entire team is playing with confidence and Okorie is doing Okorie (i.e. amazing) things.
Not trying to boast or make any predictions, just saying: Stanford looked like an NCAA tournament team tonight.

If true, Stanford should sign the guy to a ten year contract.

Possible to reach 20 wins.
The victories vs SMU and NDAM cement an NIT bid. 12 losses (one more in ACC Conf upcoming) is too many to make NCAAs.
But, now we likely get a #4 seed or better for NIT, which is useful.
For next season we have very good Guard talent coming in (replace Okorie to NBA), and need to get a Real Center in the transfer portal.

I was not able to watch live, but as someone who was at Maples on Dec. 30, I could not agree more.
I agree with so many of the posts in this thread. Nice to see Okorie stick it to the Irish, and just as nice to see so many others contribute in a big way. Stanford did look like a potential NCAA tourney team, but unfortunately, they have to overcome a lot of nights when they did not.
There is a great opportunity on Saturday at NC State - get another Quad 1 win (against a team that has lost 5 of their last 6 games) and go into the ACC tourney on a 4-game winning streak (and after spending a full week in the Eastern time zone).

Stanford is tied with SMU and VTech for 10th in the ACC at 8-9, a game behind FSU and Cal. The best we can finish is 9-9 and in a three-way tie for 8th. But even so we would be the 10th seed playing the 15th seed, because we lost the head-to-head to both FSU and Cal, which is too bad since the top 9 seeds get a first-round bye. The worst seed possible for Stanford would be the 12th seed, playing the 13th seed.
So Stanford is playing no matter what on Tuesday at 2, 4:30 or 7 pm Eastern time. Does that sound right?

I love the fight in this team and this staff! They lost their way a little bit when Okpara went down. That's reasonable given that he was our second leading scorer. The guard play has been fantastic between Benny "Buckets" and Jeremy "Dent the Net" Smith (great guard play will be needed to make a run). The big men, especially Aiden Camman, but others as well (how big was Thompson's 3 last night) continue to improve with every game. Of course there is "Buu" leading the charge as the best player in a Stanford uniform that I've ever seen. He can create, drive, dish, shoot the tre, finish, steal and play Great defense. He has a gear that is extremely rare and I loved that the commentators last night were comparing him to Isaiah Thomas. That's a true compliment to this gifted freshmen phenom.
One game at a time, but I would love to see them keep improving and keep winning. They are so fun to watch right now, and I haven't said that about a Stanford men's hoops team in a long, long time. Keep it up, Coach Kyle and Team!
PS Hat's off to the SigEps heading up to Sacramento to cheer on Maxime this weekend! Let's get the 6th Man Club raging again!

Agree they are fun to watch, well, mainly when winning! And great nicknames!
I believe I understood announcers to say that Okorie was on track to have a good/decent chance to set the all time ACC scoring average for a rookie.
Beating out a stellar list of legendary predecessors.
I think a key thing remaining to prepare for, with NC State, and then the ACC tourney,
is how to handle double teams on Okorie.
I mean, we have been dealing with it, but I expect it will come even more.
Saw some last night, like when inbounded to Ebuka, double teamed, dished to JDS who was open for a long range bomb, that made us all nervous, but he sank it.
I'm confident Coach is all over it.
Will be interesting to see it some more in action, how it's handled.
I expect a lot of it.

I will only remember him for one thing and that is endorsing and making videos for virulent racist Jesse Helms in the 80s.
I know nothing about that.
What I do know is that he coached college football for 33 years. During which time he undoubtedly had some influence over the lives of hundreds of young black men. And from what I’ve read about him – a positive influence.
If that’s wrong – then I will stand corrected.
Here's his Wikipedia entry, so folks can judge for themselves. Coach Holtz had his share of non-political controversies as well, but I agree that overall he was a great ambassador for college football, especially in his post-coaching days.
I had a chance to talk with Coach Holtz before he gave a speech to a couple thousand people in Syracuse in the 90's. I poked him a little about how much fun it had been watching Stanford play in South Bend the last few years (a comeback win then a blowout). He quickly retorted that I must not have gone to the games in Palo Alto (I hadn't). Quick witted guy. We talked a little more about Stanford and ND. Later that night, he mentioned our conversation in his speech and talked about how institutions like Stanford and ND who pride themselves on both academic and athletic excellence should be the benchmark for college athletics. And this was on the floor of the Carrier Dome, no less. That's the one thing I remember him for. RIP Coach. . . .

New EPSN bracketology this AM. You're saying there is still a chance! Need these 6 teams ahead of us to lose.
First Four Ou
Teams ranked 69-72 that missed the cut
Next Four Out
Teams ranked 73-76 that missed the cut

Personally, I wouldn't even entertain the possibility of this unless we win three straight games, including @ NC St. and whatever second round opponent we'd draw in the ACC tournament.
And even then odds would be against us. Mediocre record plus several bad losses will be too much to overcome.

Remember that ESPN’s bracketology is not the committee’s ranking; sometimes the committee does strange things. In addition to teams ahead of us losing (and us winning), you need to ensure there aren’t any tournament upsets that send an automatic qualifier into the tournament that wouldn’t have been there anyways with an at large bid.
I think we are drawing an inside straight to make it into the tournament, barring a late season run that sees us upset a team or two in the ACC tournament. It’s nice that this is even a consideration given pre-season expectations, though.

I agree BC. Things would need to line up extremely well for us to make the Dance, but stranger things have happened. One game at a time and a Quad 1 win over NC State is a very nice start.
We need Ebuka and our guards to keep scoring and our big men: Camman, Thompson, Rohosy, Giltay and Young to keep improving, boarding and scoring. Going to take a total team effort, but the sense of urgency and strong desire to win and move on, should be there. With the number of people we can rotate in, everyone should be giving 110% when they are on the court. In Coach Kyle we trust. Let's Go Card!

As enthusiastic as I am about this team,
I give our chances of making the Big Dance about as likely as Christie Brinkley calling me up for a blind date.
However, I am for sure looking forward to NIT and hoping our guys do a lotta damage there.
