I'm going to guess six. All by Giants pitchers...not that it's a bad thing. Lots of really good relievers blow saves. Here's the four career blown saves leaders:

Goose Gossage, 112
Rollie Fingers, 109
Jeff Reardon, 106
Lee Smith, 103

The four blown saves in that game tied a record, though for the life of me, I can't find out who held the record they tied.

Good guess on Rose but he isn’t top 2

Willie & Henry??

Rose had a ton of doubles (maybe the career record or close), but I suspect that despite his hustle, not quite enough triples to get the combined record.  Ty Cobb would be my next guess; he had a ton of triples.

Ty Cobb # 1. Who is second? Doubles and triples not home runs

I would guess either Tris Speaker or Sam Crawford

Honus Wagner

Good one Mick. Tris Speaker is # 2

With news that Cal Quantrill pitched an immaculate inning (three up, three down, three Ks, nine pitches, nine strikes), I checked, only once has a team had two immaculate innings in the same game.  More curiously, the same three batters struck out in both innings.  What was the team?  And as a bonus, who were the two pitchers and three batters?

I'll guess it was the Yankees and the pitchers were Roger Clemens and Mariano Rivera.

Good thought but it happened much more recently (3 years ago)

How about Dylan Cease and Liam Hendriks of the White Sox?

RE: Sports trivia thread 2025 - BostonCard - 05-26-2025

The answer is the Houston Astros.

Luis Garcia and Phil Maton each pitched an inning with three strikeouts on nine pitches, striking out the same three Texas Rangers batters: Nathaniel Lowe, Ezequiel Duran, and Brad Miller.

11 of the top 13 hitters in batting average all time were left handed hitters. Nane the two who hit right handed

Hornsby was right handed.  I believe he is the #1 right handed hitter of all time.
