RE: WBB: Stanford @ UCLA Friday 8pm - martyup - 01-13-2023

Osborne throws her head back to try to draw a foul every time she drives with the ball.

Swatted again!

RE: WBB: Stanford @ UCLA Friday 8pm - martyup - 01-13-2023

3 more blocks and Brink has a triple double.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ UCLA Friday 8pm - MV72018 - 01-13-2023

Well, Stanford came out with fire when it mattered most. Kudos.

How about finishing strong instead of limping to the finish line!

RE: WBB: Stanford @ UCLA Friday 8pm - martyup - 01-13-2023

My Fubo feed is crapping out with 1:24 to play.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ UCLA Friday 8pm - MV72018 - 01-13-2023

Make those FTs, s'il vous plait!

RE: WBB: Stanford @ UCLA Friday 8pm - martyup - 01-13-2023

That's a top 10 win on the road!  Way to go Cardinal.

Haley played very well on the boards and 6 assists but only shot 6 for 18 from the field. Anemic. No accurate deep or midrange shot. Teams will eventually learn to play off her so she can't easily blow by for a layup. 7 blocks for Brink, impressive.

7 blocks and I think the scorer missed a couple in the first half.

For all those complaining about Brink's inability to stay on the floor, it's obviously Tara's strategy. Rest Brink for 3 quarters while letting the other great players keep it close and then let her run at 110% to close out the game.

=)

Can they go back and adjust the stats?

What a fourth quarter! And while Cam was the core of that, it was also a real team effort

Like Boston in their game against us.

Do they have the flop rule in womens basketball? If so, they aren't calling it.

What a timely substitution with Agnes. She changed the game in the 4th with stellar defense and timely buckets.

Not our best game again. Our offense was very stagnant for long stretches. Haley did not play particularly well. Everyone just tends to stand around when she dribbles with no crisp cutting nor passing. 0/4 from three staying true to form.I don’t know that she impressed any WNBA scouts.  Hannah Jump also struggled. Cam was great as was Agnes and Talana. I thought Iriafen held her own too.

Stanford was well supported with many fans presumably many there to watch local kid Iriafen.

Kiki Rice was held in check. I thought overall our defense was solid.

We win 72-59 thanks to a tremendous fourth quarter.

Offensively, Brink's return jumpstarted us; she came back with so much aggression and energy.

Defensively, it took the Bruins over 8 minutes to score in the fourth quarter and despite scoring 10 points in less than 2 minutes at the end of the game, we had taken such a big lead and made (most) of our free throws, that the game was finally in hand.

A big shoutout to Agnes Emma-Nnopu who came into the fourth quarter with one goal: shut down Osborne and she did so.

Both Brink and Jones had double-doubles, but Cameron was much more efficient, given that she sat for extended periods of time due to her fouls.

Jones was not efficient despite being our team's leading scorer (6/18 from the field, including 0/4 from long range) and she made some silly turnovers, but her most important contribution I thought was beyond the points, snagging 12 rebounds and dishing out six assists.

Brink had a spectacular fourth quarter: According to ESPN's play by play, this was her fourth quarter stats: 6 points (1/2 FG%, 4/6 FTs), 8 rebounds (2 offensive), 6 blocks (out of 7 for the game)

We beat a top-10 team on the road by double digits and people are upset about how we played.

Wilson said he's friends with Kiki Rice's family. Thus, the UCLA pick.

Cameron Brink blocks out for rebounds better than any player in the PAC-12.  Fortunately Brink is at Stanford so she won't leave early for the WNBA.

I love Lepolo's play.  When she drives toward the basket she always leaves an exit ramp in the event defenders converge on her.

Bosgana didn't call bank for her shot behind the arc so does that count as a made three in her stats?

The substitution of Agnes into the game made Tara look like a coaching genius (which she is).
