Haley with a double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists). She turns it on when she wants.
The best players from each team have fouled out. Great job refs.

Still time to complete the all-time greatest collapse in women's basketball.

40 fouls have been called tonight with 2:06 to play.
Lexie is our leading scorer for the 2nd tourney game in a row.

These refs…are not great. And there won’t be a collapse tonight. MD is out of time.

that foul call on lacie might be the worst of the night. (it has a lot of competition though!)

Just win and advance. Good job Cardinal women.

Happy with the win but the inability to score and all the missed free throws in the 4th quarter was so ugly.

50 rebounds by Stanford. Fiddy!

We win 72-66. The fourth quarter was ugly and Schafer must be licking his chops on how we ended the game. Though the refs didn't help, we became a shell of the team we were for most of the game.
Our defense gave up 30(!) points after surrendering 36 in the first 30 minutes while we scored only thirteen. Fortunately, we built a big enough lead that gave us the cushion (barely) to win.
Texas's defense will be like that for the entire game and we had 18 turnovers today when Maryland's defense is not as high-pressure as the Longhorns.
The fourth quarter really took the joy out of the win, but a victory is a victory.
Tara should not let them celebrate and warn them that they almost lost due to the horrific 4th quarter and if they played like that against Texas, we won't make it back to the Final Four.

That was tense, but I am still going to enjoy the heck out of this win. We get a shot at revenge against Texas for a spot in the Final Four, and that is unquestionably a good thing.
ETA: Maryland scored 102 and 89 points in their first two games; we held them to 66. That’s good defense, despite the 4th quarter.

The big 3 were big.
Brink with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 5 brinks.
Jones with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists.
Lexie Hull with 19 points, 9 rebounds.

It was more than ugly. It was OMINOUS for the remainder of this tournmament. Reminiscent of the SC game in Q3, we let them outscore us by 20 BLOODY POINTS in Q4. How could Tara let that happen. The fact that Brink fouled out again is another cause for deep concern.

Yeah, a win is a win, but the way we managed to turn a romp into a close game was really something.

We win and move on, that is what counts.
However, we had 18 turnovers against a bad defensive team, and now go against hard-pressing Texas. We will need an exponential improvement in ball handling if we are going to get back to the final four.
Also horrific was our fourth quarter defense, giving up 30 with most of our starters in until the end. All the games we lost this year we had one of those bad quarters, and I thought we were over that. But no.
I've been worried about a full-strength Maryland, who had been playing well, and we handled them exceptionally well for three quarters. So I guess I should be happy that we have 3 down and 3 to go.
But Texas looks quite improved too, and I'm not sure we have improved enough in the ways that count to get past them. I'm going to be a nervous wreck for a couple of days.

45 fouls were called. While they were evenly distributed between the teams, they disrupted the flow of the game and many were either bad calls or should have been no calls. Usually in the tourney the refs let the teams play. Not tonight.

I can think of many other less flattering characterizations than "really something." It is unacceptable for a team with championship aspirations. I have the sense that Stanford is not a particularly good foul shooting team. That could come back to bite us in any of the three-max remaining matchups where we will need every point we can get.

Yes just pleased we hung on to win but need to work on free throws and ball handling again. Wish we had brought Agnes in earlier defensively but really blaming the refs for not calling fouls on MD enough (how
many takedowns and arms to the throat) vs. what they called on us.

Obviously, I am happy that we win and that's the most important thing, but I am very worried about Sunday.
The team that played the first half must show up against Texas and then we have a good shot to return to the Final Four.
If the fourth quarter team shows up, we might as well book our flights back to the Bay Area.

If they played like they did in the 4th quarter, they wouldn't be able to beat San Jose State. We all know they are better than that and can beat anyone on any given night. If they were going to have an awful quarter, this was the game to do it. The further you move on in this tournament, the tougher it gets. They have to learn from this. Texas is good. We can beat them.

Yeah, it doesn't give you a lot of warm fuzzys about how we are going to do against the Longhorns. We'll see what happens though.
