Called it before the last play.  Stupendous.

Great comeback by the Cardinal. Haley Jones proving her mettle.

Sometimes the game is too easy for her. She needs a game like this to crank up her intensity and find that extra gear.

Make sure the ball is in the hands of our best free thrower.

Agree. Great comeback win or lose.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Oregon Sun 1pm - CompSci87 - 02-20-2022

Announcers are going keep talking about that administrative T. What if we win by 1?

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Oregon Sun 1pm - MV72018 - 02-20-2022

Can we play tight D without fouling and force them to make a three? Or should we give them a relatively easy two and get the ball back to be fouled?

Make one of these FTs and the ball game's over.

Interesting and revealing that the Cardinal had only 10 assists today on 23 buckets. Suggests lots of one-on-one play. And we shot a pathetic 3 for 16 from downtown. Not good enough to beat the top teams.

You either have a library of "pertinent and provocative" video clips or the fastest way of searching Google Images ever.

Interesting observation.

Woohoo! All. Right. Now! I thought last year's team was gutsy. This year they are even tougher.

Haley Jones was remarkably composed in the post-game interview. Like there was never a doubt in her mind.

What a comeback! We're so lucky to have this team.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Oregon Sun 1pm - CompSci87 - 02-20-2022

What a game! Great D by Oregon, and their small guards weaving all around and constantly moving gave our D a lot of trouble.

Great moves to put in Iriafen and Emma-Nnopu and let them do their stuff.

Ducks will say refs cost them game of course.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Oregon Sun 1pm - martyup - 02-20-2022

We managed to win having only shot 35.4% -- 18.8%.  Our 17 made FTs really helped.

Before this game I was thinking that a loss today would actually help this team prepare for the NCAA by reminding them how it feels to lose.  However, this kind of win is also beneficial because it reminds them that a 10 point deficit late in the 4th Q is not insurmountable.

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Oregon Sun 1pm - Yellowlab - 02-20-2022

We have started calling her 2nd Half Haley.  She seems to start playing with focus when the game gets tough and every possession matters.  I hope Tara goes to Kiki rather than Fran when Cam has to sit down.  Fran is great as a 4 but not as a 5.  Tough games need tough players and these are not just “nice girls from Stanford.”

RE: WBB: Stanford @ Oregon Sun 1pm - BostonCard - 02-20-2022

Well, Oregon is a good team, and we beat them.  What we did today is not enough to beat a top 10 team, but Oregon is no slouch, and though we struggled for 3 1/2 quarters, we turned it on when it counted.  Plus, on a day when many of our players struggled, our three wasn’t falling (just 3/16 for the game), we had Jones turn it on in the fourth quarter and Kiki Iriafen provided a needed bust from the bench.

But 3-16 was just good enough to beat Oregon.

Stanford won because they were the tougher team today. They fought past their own poor shooting and a hostile crowd supporting some really good Oregon play. But Stanford gutted it out and won. That's what championship level teams do - they find a way to win.

Yes, absolutely but there were also times in the game where Jones couldn't buy a shot.  Overall I think she has slightly regressed from last year.   Still time in the season for Jones to be a consistent performer from start to finish of games.  Stanford will need it in the NCAA tournament.

I don't expect anyone to agree with this.  I thought Stanford was the beneficiary of many questionable calls.

Agreed. We haven’t had many close games. We had late game situations today and still got the win. Can’t beat that. Lots of concerning areas of play but lots to celebrate at the end too. I think pretty evident we couldn’t go with Hannah or Janna but instead Agnes as our perimeter defense collectively really struggled. Then in return our perimeter offense struggled. Great to see Kiki step up.  Cam has to be smarter and simply play better. Haley came up so clutch. I wish she would impose her will every game. We need her at her best. Sweep of the Oregon’s! We’ll take it!!
