CTcard - CTcard - 11-10-2025

Amusingly, SMU rose 12 spots in the rpi by beating us (up to #11) while we rose 1 spot by losing to SMU (to #10).

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - Papa John - 11-10-2025

I don't think we should underestimate the mysterious absence of Zach Bohane from last night's match. I hope that he's ready to go on November 20 or 23.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - DenverCard - 11-17-2025

The NCAA bracket was announced today, and Stanford is seeded 12th.  SMU is seeded 5th.  So if both teams win their second round matches (the first match for each team), they will meet again for the 3rd time within a month.  Which is a shame. (This time the game will be at SMU, whereas the first two meetings were at Stanford.)

Presumably the seeding committed came up with the top 16 without consideration of the match-ups that follow, but I'd like to see a way to avoid matches involving teams from the same conference so early in the tournament.  Similarly, Portland and University of San Diego, both from the West Coast Conference, were seeded 8 and 9.

If Stanford wins their initial match, which in soccer is far from a sure thing, and if SMU is upset, Stanford would host either Oregon State or Washington, both of which they used to play twice a year in the Pac-12.  Stanford played OSU this year and won in the final minute.  Whether it be SMU, OSU, or Washington, Stanford will need to bring their 'A' game and hopefully have no one missing due to injury or other.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - cardfan77 - 11-17-2025

I think Oregon State has a good chance of upsetting SMU. If that happens and Stanford takes care of their business, then we will see a rematch. Stanford eked out a win with less than a minute left in the game the last time they played Oregon State.  I do like our changes against Oregon State at home instead of SMU on the road.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - cardfan77 - 11-23-2025

UW defeated SMU. If Stanford wins today then the will host UW.

Game started. No Zach Bohane?

He is dressed and seen warming up and stretching on the sideline.  Looks like he’s starting in the 2nd half

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - Hieronymus - 11-23-2025

1:0:Stanford ATG from a Pymm free kick.

And yes Zach is in this half.

Non contact injuries seldom end well unfortunately for the KC player.

Pretty shaky officiating today. But no surprise on the west coast.

And KC misses a wide open finish. Stanford defense fell asleep there. Not a wonderful close here for Stanford.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - Hieronymus - 11-23-2025

And it finishes 1:0. Not a work of art and the last few minutes got dicey; but considering the carnage across the other seeds this round, a win is a win. KC defended well especially in the air. I thought Stanford crossed fairly well today, but the attacking headers were generally terrible.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - cardfan77 - 11-23-2025

Rough day for many seeded teams. Seed 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 all went down. Portland seeded 8 is currently in a tie game against Denver. Glad  Stanford won their match. KC had a golden opportunity with 2 minutes left to go. KC completely missed the goal.

Tough day for UVA soccer. Both their women’s and men’s team lost today on their home field

Looks like Stanford will host Washington this Sunday at 5 p.m.. Glad they won't have to face SMU again.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - Hieronymus - 11-30-2025

Men lose to UW 1-0. Pretty good first half, but no goals. Second half was not as good. Breakdown on the right led to an uncontested cross, and the UW forward overpowered the CB’s with about 3 minutes left.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - Nobadeer - 11-30-2025

LSJU outshot UW 14-2 in the first half and did score a goal, but it was called back for offsides. Two other top chances in the goal mouth along with a long range shot over the crossbar. Most of this occurred after Bohane entered the match.

UW offense showed up in the second half. Just when it looked like over time / PKs would ensue, UW scored in the 87th minute.

Another great season for LSJU, with the most wins since the three-peat NCAA champion teams, and although Bohane and Cleary graduate, many top players return next year.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - Nobadeer - 12-15-2025

Quite a M soccer college cup final right now . . . what is it about minute 87? LSJU men lost to UW in the round of 16 on a goal in the 87th, and LSJU W lost the cup to FSU last week on a goal in the 87th.

UW were winning 2-0 the cup final vs NC State, midway through the 2H, then NC St scored once, then UW desperately trying to hang on for its first cup, NC State with 10 corners overall, then in the 87th minute . . . NC St equalizes. Barring last minute heroics, it will be overtime/ golden goal, and then PKs if needed.

And UW scores in the second minute of the first 10-minute OT period. But now under VAR.

The announced crowd of 10,500 at Cary NC has been pretty much a home game for NC State.

UW goal upheld after VAR - unseeded UW is the 2025 M soccer NCAA champ. Winning goal scored by # 3 the center back who I thought was not a clean player vs. LSJU.

Small consolation for LSJU, losing to the eventual national champ. So both LSJU teams lost to the national champs.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - Spiny_Norman - 12-15-2025

The head coach of the national champion Washington Huskies is Stanford alum Jamie Clark.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - Papa John - 12-15-2025

That was one heck of a run by UW.

UW 3, Oregon St 2 @ Corvallis, OR (UW lost to OSU in Corvallis back in August)
UW 1, #5 SMU 0 @ Dallas, TX
UW 1 #12 Stanford 0 @ Stanford
UW 3, #4 Maryland 1 @ College Park, MD (UW lost to Maryland in College Park back in October)
UW 3, #16 Furman 1 @ Cary, NC
UW 3, #15 North Carolina St 2 (OT) @ Cary, NC

LSJU Men's Water Polo lost to the national champ too (UCLA). And Wisconsin Women's Volleyball is in the national semis and has reasonable odds with Nebraska losing (after some key injuries).  It'd be crazy to have 4 fall sports knocked out (in tight games) by eventual national champs.

5 teams if Notre^H^H^H^H^H Miami (we were tight at the beginning of the game... And even at half) goes on a run.

Oh wait, you said knocked out.  Nevermind.

RE: Men's soccer 2025 - BACardinal - 01-13-2026

Tomo Allen has signed a homegrown contract with San Jose and will not be returning to Stanford. This is a big loss for team.

With the Earthquakes?  Dang, that hurts.  Does he project to see the field at the pro level this coming season?
