Utah played very well. We played ok but could have played much much better. But the free throw differential was just BS. Utah flopped and got so many offensive fouls and Kneepkins just lived on the free throw line. Refs played a big part in this win.

Not really unexpected given that Utah was undefeated at home and how we played in the previous three games.
I really thought we might pull it out when we cut it to 1 but it wasn't to be.

Agree. Unfortunately the refs didn’t cause those late-game turnovers*, those were on us. Hate to see us lose one, but Utah hit a lot of shots and we didn’t hit enough.
*Well except for the offensive foul, that was a bad call.
Hopefully we win the tournament, and the committee gives us some grace with seeding given that Utah also potentially a #1 seed.

Lepolo was uniquely bad on offense and defense vs Colorado and Utah, especially during winning time in the 4th quarter. But Tara needs her in the game for some reason.
And Tara went back to her love of Agnes and Lepolo together in the lineup although her last lost came with that starting lineup. Now you have 3 very poor defensive rebounders - Hannah, Lepolo and Agnes - so you can’t get the ball and transition. It is an offensive deficit lineup and not really good defensively either but Tara somehow someway needs to play them together at some point in games and she will continue to do so.
Kudos to Utah. They really earned it with their solid play.

Utah took the "let's see how much mugging we can get away with in the paint".

Funny how you were quiet when Lepolo's treys against UCLA, and free throws down the stretch, delivered us the win. She's a freshman - yes, there will be less than perfect games. And the "some reason" is she's the best ball handler we have. You may wish she's better, but stats-wise, she is demonstrably the best we have.

I think all our losses are the result of bad officiating
Can't see any other reason we should lose

What was there to say? She made WIDE OPEN SHOTS because no one ever guards her and she played well for her. She does that every 4 or 5 games? Yay! It doesn’t happen often or consecutively and certainly doesn’t justify her playing time. I’ve always said she should play but not as a starter.
With the amount of turnovers she had in winning time when Stanford still had a chance to win, if that is the best Stanford has in terms of ball security? They are in a lot of trouble.

We hurt ourselves with the turnovers but equally important to Utah's win was that the refs f*cked us.
Cheers,

I’m sorry but when one team shoots almost twice the number of free throws as the other team, something is wrong.

We shot 48% to Utah's 41%. We took 60 shots vs their 53. We out rebounded them 37 to 24. But the refs gave Utah the game at the free throw line. A number of our turnovers were Utah guards slapping the hands of our posts and no fouls were called.

Tara who I always assumed was superstitious changed her lineup after a winning streak. I can’t remember her ever doing that. She has only tried two lineups consistently in however many games (except due to Lepolo’s injury):
Lepolo, Agnes, Haley, Cam, Hannah
Lepolo, Kiki, Haley, Cam, Hannah
No other experiments except during injury all year and unfortunately it’s too late to experiment now.
I suspect Kiki will be back in the starting lineup for the PAC-12 tourney, or she might double down on Agnes. It will be interesting to see.

Not that the officiating cost us the game....but it sure changes from game to game.
Let's hope we see them in Las Vegas. And our vaunted defense needs some tweaking or we won't win the tourney either.
Congrats to Utah. Much rather lose to them than most others, simply because I like their style of play.

Utah consistently attacked the basket and were the aggressors. That will always win out at home. Our perimeter defenders could not contain dribble drives, and were out of position defensively.

Despite all the challenges the schedule, travel problems, Utah’s court at elevation, etc. our team had to deal with, we came out firing on all cylinders and might have blown Utah out but the referees really altered the game. I don’t usually complain about the officials but this time they really altered the game even more than the FT #s indicate and the #s show a lot for Utah. The announcers indicated they thought there were lots of questionable calls against us or no calls against them. Lots of charges against us that should have been blocking against them, ticky tack fouls against us when they got away with lots of hard checks and bumps but mostly they got away with lots of moving screens which got their 3-point shots going. Brink got called for a moving screen that was less egregious but altered her play the rest of the game.
I think we’ll be better positioned at the PAC-12 tournament

Our defense, Other team in bonus we make dumb fouls. And Our perimeter defenders foul when they get beat. See Demetre, Nnopu, belbi.
Then end of game fouls to stop the clock

One problem is that Kiki has no reliable shot other than a point-blank layup.
