Of possible senior returners, I wonder about Yurosek (NFL?), Farrell (play with his brother?), Filkins (starting RB?), and Gilman (after all-Pac 12 honors)

Posted in another thread yurosek is in transfer portal. Filkins is done with football.

-21 Seniors/5th year players graduating
-3 Non-senior transfer portal players (Heyer, Patu, Williams)
+5 Returning seniors/5th years (Phillips, Sinclair, Rogers, McLaughlin, Manley)
=61 Ongoing scholarship commitments
+24 Incoming freshman scholarships
=85 2024 scholarship commitments

Non-Senior Transfer/Retirements Needed: 0

The incoming class is now at 24 players. If only the seniors/fifth years return who have indicated so (listed above), and if there are no more #CardClass24 commits or transfers, we are at the 85 scholarship max. But ... stay tuned!

Syracuse now has McCord. They do play indoors. On January 31, we will find out the date of Stanford's game at Syracuse.

Woah. That is going to be a thin TE room!

He did not play a down this year - not sure if he was injured or not - so he regained his redshirt burned last year. He'll have three years remaining if he transfers.

Scholarships Available: 1

The incoming class is now at 23 players. I think we lost nine commitments total:

WR Ricky Johnson (Mississippi State)
WR Emanuel Ross (Syracuse)
OT Justin Tauanuu (USC)
OG Kai Greer (Georgia Tech)
LB Luke Ferrelli (Kal)
LB Brandon Booker (SMU)
LB Naki Tuakoi (uncommitted)
CB Jamir Benjamin (UCLA)
CB Khari Reid (uncommitted)

All of these (except for Benjamin) were August 30 or later in their decommitments, so it could be that, for some, Stanford was their "safety commit" until they got an offer they preferred from a more competitive program. But it could also be that they got Door #1'd, as can be seen from a couple that are not yet committed elsewhere. Not sure what reason for whom.

At any rate, 23 is still a good number - better than most of Shaw's classes, and we did not lose Elijah Brown.

As it presently stands, we have one more spot for another freshman commit, a transfer, another returning senior/5th year...

I appreciate this work but there are a lot of guys you appear to be assuming gone who we have received indications are coming back. I don’t think there is any publicly available information that gets us close to being within 85, but Taylor knows a lot more than we do. I’ll be interested to learn about the remainder of the attrition.

I’m not assuming anyone “gone.” I’m just keeping track of scholarship numbers given those who have definitively stated they are returning, enrolling, and transferring. Updating as more becomes known, including returners. Everyone, including me, knows this is a process.

The Stanford Daily reported that Bryce Farrell is likely returning.

If that is true, we'll be back even in terms of scholarship spaces... Still have not heard anything about Porter, Gilman, or Keneley. Has anyone else?

Troy Taylor said in his press conference that Chase ('24 signee) will get to play with his brother Bryce, so Bryce Farrell will be back. Coach Gregory tweeted a picture of returning safeties that included Gilman so looks like he'll be back. (Porter may have also been included in that post)

That's a loss of a productive player.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bailey / Cooper also jump. From the outside, they look like talented players who should be getting more playing time.

Well, for better or for worse, it looks like TT is going to be playing with his recruits sooner rather than later.
