Unbelievable. Up 24-10 at the end of the 3rd quarter; up 24-22 and driving with a minute and change to go; up 27-22 with less than a minute to go, and they find a way to lose it. What a SS.

I left the game with Stanford up 8 in the fourth quarter. Sounds like it was a wise choice.

See 1992, Walsh > Lou "Brat" Holtz, for the "Midterms" Game.
But, returning 1-5 would be the end of the Season.
Uh....I beg to differ...winning next week will not salvage the season. Though, it ain't gonna happen so this is an academic argument anyway.

They had a nice game winning drive going and then the genius gene got in the way of victory. And Stanford decided not to pressure the QB on the last drive. Bailey just stood there and covered a mirage.
Both teams are poorly coached. Penalties and mistakes enough for an entire season. I doubt Stanford can put away a game. Maybe they get lucky one time but 2-10 is optimistic.

Hate to say it, but I agree with you.
1-11 or 2-10 is starting to look very realistic.
Still SMH about how we managed to pee away that game.

And here I was thinking how lucky we got because the Beavs insisted on trying to pass on us when it looked like they could run all night long.
Silly me.
Loved RGIII announcing. Dude knows what he's talking about. Am I misremembering or was there once talk of him being on our recruiting radar in HS?

The 3 points that Stanford gifted to OSU after being offside on a missed FG proved to be consequential, didn’t it?

Yep, he actually took an official visit to campus. Harbaugh tried to convince him that he and Andrew Luck would make a great QB duo and split time. He didn't buy it though.

I suspect you are referring to that 3rd and 3 in Beav territory, when Shaw put in his running QB, Daniels, every Beav knew what was up, and he got crushed, lost yardage, and we had to punt. To me that wimpy play call was the turning point. Get a 1st down there and game over.

If the safety is going to stand there and give the endzone, yes. The offsides shouldn't have mattered.
Any reasonable effort and angle and the game is won.

Yes, a first down would have ended it, and you probably could have gotten it easily with a bootleg and throw to a tight end or run if it’s open, except McKee probably can’t get us three yards on his feet, and in any case we don’t line up under center any more.
But, FWIW, we kicked a field goal to go up five (we didn’t have to punt), which should have been enough with a minute left and OSU out of time outs.

It takes a bad team to find a way to lose that game.

The turtle gene came out with a vengeance in the 4th quarter. Of course, Shaw might have gotten away with it if his defense had been on the level of his early teams. But somehow he seems to forget that it's 2022 and not 2012.

This is an unusually weak ND team. No salvage in "victory" that I can see for Shaw's team. Stanford vs. Irish: Hapless has-beens wandering in the wilderness of South Bend.

Interesting that the ND quarterback that day was Rick Mirer. His son Charlie is now a walk on freshman QB at Stanford.
