Good luck to Simi. Wish he would have stayed another year. I wonder how many NFL teams would compare him to JJ?

Waddle and Adams will be the first to go in the draft. Some other good ones ahead of Fehoko. Niners need a tall, fast WR. Makes sense for him given that he’s married and went on a mission.
Probably the strongest position for Stanford with Wilson, Higgins, Tremayne and probably St. Brown and Wedington. St. Brown has done nothing so now is his chance.

I don’t know 40 times, but Fehoko appears to be faster than JJ. He also seems to run better after the catch; although some of that may be QB related. I also think Fehoko gets more separation. My guess is he won’t be as high a draft pick, as JJ had a better overall body of work. But he’ll be a better NFL receiver.

Seems like he just arrived.
Fehoko was a high-school class of 2016 graduate, then went on a Mormon mission for two years, arriving back at Stanford for the 2018 season.
In his true freshman year, he played in 4 games to retain a year of eligibility and caught a single pass for 6 yards.
In his redshirt freshman year (2019), he showed his full promise and hauled in 24 catches for 566 yards. He was named Pac-12 freshman of the week after the Stanford victory over Washington.
In the Covid-shortened 2020 season (his redshirt sophomore year), he truly broke out and recorded 37 catches for 574 yards in six games.
And now his Cardinal career is over before he could really make his mark. In essence, the Stanford football program got 1 1/2 years of productivity from such a unique talent. We can blame the pandemic for this shortened year; but it seems more and more that top athletes come and leave before they can make a lasting impact on the program. Fehoko's performance this year was a true bright spot in a wonky season, and I was pleased to note that he had two more years of eligibility (three if you count the half season this year). But he's gone. Obviously, I wish him all the best, but it's a shame his career at Stanford was so short.
We will probably be saying the same thing about Davis Mills very soon; and in his case, we haven't even seen a full season of his talent. Think back to the days when a QB like Hogan led the team for 4 years.

The first shoe has dropped and is not a surprise given he has a good NFL skill set. The decisions by the other WRs are now more important. Wilson has a NFL decision to make. Wedington, OSB could grad transfer or try the NFL. I hope they come back for their fifth years.

It will be interesting to see how the NFL views him. It seemed to me he had loads of physical talent but did not always maximize it. Sometimes there would be stretches where he just disappeared. He was not the #1 receiver at the beginning of this season. This year he had some great games and maybe he was getting close to who he could be as a player. Shaw praised him for stepping up when the two starting receivers got hurt. That may be enough for the NFL to give him a shot, but I think he will be drafted in a later round than many expect. He will be in a "show me" situation IMHO.
That said, I can see why he wants to go now. His mission makes him a senior in age and he is married. There are no guarantees about what happens next year. Mills may leave and things may be rocky at least for a few games. Fehoko could get injured. Football careers can often be short. Deciding to take a shot at getting paid now makes sense.

Actually he graduated HS 5 years ago this coming June.
No surprise at all and with Mills game one and Mills almost no practice before game two I think you need to look at his last 4 games. All wins

OSB has done nothing. Wilson won’t be drafted. Wedington needs to have a 60 catch year. Maybe grad transfers but I don’t see them as viable NFL picks.
All that said I’m excited about Higgins. Great size.

Unlike last season we don’t need room for new recruits so doubt many grad transfers
Famous last words right ?

It's depressing how little Stanford got out of Fehoko, Little, and Adebo.
I'm going to be fascinated to see where Fehoko winds up in the draft rankings and where he is selected. I've seen one UDFA projection for him. Hopefully he gets a combine invite.

His last four games were:
3 catches, 21 yards, 0 TDs
4 catches, 61 yards, 0 TDs
6 catches, 100 yards, 0 TDs
16 catches, 230 yards, 3 TDs
His resume for the NFL is basically one outstanding game plus a couple of okay days (from last year, he did have 6 catches vs und), but his draft case is far more potential than resume.
I haven't seen him on any draftboards/ratings, but he wasn't high profile and as much as anyone thought about him they probably did not figure he'd declare for the draft.
He will be an interesting case. I see enough basic talent to be an NFL WR, but don't think he's very well known and has a thin resume.

Why don't you include
setting the Pac-12 record for yards per reception last season in his resume?

i think Simi ran around 10.8 in high school. So he has some speed.

Agree on Higgins. Showed the ability to make catches in traffic. I think Wedington will be an NFL slot receiver. He has the skill set. Wilson had a tough year, imo. Dropped too many passes at key times.

I'll bet that Chase is the first WR to be drafted.
This year's WR class is strong and deep.

(12-28-2020, 04:31 PM)SamuelMcF Wrote: Why don't you include setting the Pac-12 record for yards per reception last season in his resume?
Well, partly because it does not appear to be a record (it's not in the Pac 12
Football Record Book)*, and more because its a fairly obscure statistic that benefits from not having too many receptions.
It does reflect Fehoko's ability to be a deep threat, which is part of his NFL appeal.
It's certainly not that I am trying to disparage his abilities - and thought I was clear that he has abilities that could make him appealing to the NFL. However, in a couple of years on a fairly high-volume passing team he had not been particularly productive prior to his final college game.
While the UCLA game did show what he is capable of, his college-career statistics are not where his case for the NFL draft lies.
* There is no record listed for most yds/completion for a season.
There is a record for most yds/completion for a career, minimum 75 receptions. That record is held by Wesley Walker of Cal at 25.7 on 86 catches for 2206 yards.
For comparison, Fehoko's career puts him at 18.6 on 62 catches for 1156 yards.
For a single season,
In 2009 Fehoko averaged 23.6 yds/reception on exactly 2.0 receptions per game.
In 1976 Walker averaged 27.1 yds/reception on 2.1 receptions per game.

No idea where he goes (or if) in draft. Are they having a combine?
