Well, partly because it does not appear to be a record (it's not in the Pac 12
Football Record Book)*, and more because its a fairly obscure statistic that benefits from not having too many receptions.
It does reflect Fehoko's ability to be a deep threat, which is part of his NFL appeal.
It's certainly not that I am trying to disparage his abilities - and thought I was clear that he has abilities that could make him appealing to the NFL. However, in a couple of years on a fairly high-volume passing team he had not been particularly productive prior to his final college game.
While the UCLA game did show what he is capable of, his college-career statistics are not where his case for the NFL draft lies.
* There is no record listed for most yds/completion for a season.
There is a record for most yds/completion for a career, minimum 75 receptions. That record is held by Wesley Walker of Cal at 25.7 on 86 catches for 2206 yards.
For comparison, Fehoko's career puts him at 18.6 on 62 catches for 1156 yards.
For a single season,
In 2009 Fehoko averaged 23.6 yds/reception on exactly 2.0 receptions per game.
In 1976 Walker averaged 27.1 yds/reception on 2.1 receptions per game.
