MBB: FSU game thread - burger - 11-25-2022

Game is on ESPN news

8-2 FSU five minutes in.  FSU is 1-5 and got blown out by hoops powerhouse Siena yesterday.

Typical bad start with 2 TOs vs 1 basket for us so far.  But I'd still rather watch this than soccer...

RE: MBB: FSU game thread - BobK - 11-25-2022

Now tied

RE: MBB: FSU game thread - AlbanyCardinal - 11-25-2022

MJones looks to be a ray of hope in this one. Team percentage from 3, however: 12.5. I love watching college hoops, but this team can be hard to bear.

What the hell is up with the 3 point shooting on this team?

A recent game they were 1 for 15...first half today 1 for 13.

Hell, I am an old guy but I can shoot a heck of a lot better than that!

RE: MBB: FSU game thread - Phogge - 11-25-2022

O’Connell and Silva are terrible. Not many (any?) athletes on this team. Watched for five minutes and probably won’t watch again this season.

Hey, meet the new team, Same as the old team.

Yeah, I might just watch the soccer instead of the second half of this.  And I hate soccer.

Stanford leads. Darn I care I’ll watch
Ok down one before I finish typing

Hey we are up by 9 with 7 min to go.
If we aren't careful we might actually win this one.

RE: MBB: FSU game thread - martyup - 11-25-2022

We chopped the Seminoles! 70-60

Nice to see a win.  Sure seemed to come on strong in the second half.

RE: MBB: FSU game thread - BostonCard - 11-25-2022

Nice second half by Stanford. 49 points in the half!  Angel the brightest spot: 8/15 for 22 points and two threes (the entire team made 3).

It's starting to feel like we're an NIT team at best--and even that may be wildly optimistic.  We've beaten some mediocre to bad teams. But we lost decisively to Tourney-calibre teams SDSU, Wisc., and Miss.

We're going to need to do much better on offense if we want to make the Tourney.

Stanford shot a rousing 3 for 26 from deep today. PATHETIC!!! And Haase opined earlier that we're a good three-point-shooting team. Yikes. For the season so far, in 6 games we are 37 for 133 or 27.8%. The only game in which we shot treys well was against, you guessed it, Cal Poly (14 for 29). Here are the six games so far and our treys made/treys attempted:

Pacific            8/22
Wisconsin       1/16
San Diego St   4/18
Cal Poly          14/29
Ole Miss          7/22
Florida St        3/26

Good lord, how bad is that!

RE: MBB: FSU game thread - BobK - 11-25-2022

Well really it’s worse. Per Stanford stats like 1 for 16 vs Wisconsin

Thanks for the correction. I will correct my post.

Yes, MV72018 is off some.  We're shooting 27.8% on threes this year.  That's 315th of 363 D-I teams.

A lot of our missed threes are contested.  It feels like the team is really struggling to generate open looks anywhere on the floor but especially from three.  I'd love to see some more screens, but Haase hasn't been interested in that for his entire tenure here.

RE: MBB: FSU game thread - old spanish trail - 11-25-2022

Does Haase think he's running a motion offense. Even the Warriors screen fairly often. I've never been able to figure out what his strategy is. Can somebody explain it?
