He's familiar with the eastern most schools of the BigTen thanks to his experience at Georgetown AND familiar with the western most schools too.
Hopefully he is #1 on their list!

I think he would make an excellent commissioner for the Big Ten. Come to think of it, I think he would be excellent at just about any job; any company or organization out there should snatch him up as soon as possible. Somehow we will soldier on without him, but it would make it a bit more bearable knowing that he is out there working his magic in the Big Ten or some other lucky landing spot.

Northwestern and Duke passed on him, right?  As did the ACC?

Assuming the Muir is actually in the running for some job I would assume that he will put on the back burner any decisions regarding a change in the men's basketball program.

He put that decision off until March months ago, but he will have no choice but to fire Haase the day after the season ends

But what coach would want the job if offered by a lame-duck AD?  Wouldn't any new AD be the one to hire a new coach?  But then what does that do to recruiting?  So, why would a new coach take the job knowing the next AD might undermine him from the beginning, to get his own person in the job?

Curious why you think Muir is a lame duck? My point is that I want Muir gone YESTERDAY. But there's no indication I'm aware of that the University feels the same way about him that I do, which means that sadly he will be the one both firing Haase and hiring his replacement.

New Big Ten commissioner Petitti off to rocky start in putting together TV deal:

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/37693310/big-ten-new-commissioner-television-deal-coaches-uncertainty

"These deals aren't done, and they aren't what they were represented to be..." said an industry source.

As a result, there's a trail of unhappy athletic directors seeing money disappearing from their bottom line, frustrated television executives and big-name coaches irked about the lack of transparency in details that weren't communicated to them.

More than $70 million in total is suddenly in flux -- nearly $5 million per school -- and it has left administrators around the league seeking answers and calling for financial accountability.

Athletic departments and coaches around the Big Ten say they were surprised November night games would be part of the deal. They weren't asked for permission to play them...
