Ashton Daniels has set a new school record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a season:
515 Ashton Daniels, 2024 (to date)
453 Andrew Luck, 2010
362 Gene Washington, 1966
355 Kevin Hogan, 2013
354 Andrew Luck, 2009
Daniels currently is second in school history for rushing yards by a QB in a career:
1,249 Kevin Hogan
963 Ashton Daniels
957 Andrew Luck
481 Don Bunce
406 Justin Lamson
Daniels also tied the school record for rushing yards by a QB in a game. His 129 yards against NC State tied Don Bunce's record, set in 1969 vs. WSU.
(Remember that sacks count as negative rushing yards for the QB.)

Yes, is impressive.
I had no idea his yards were adding up to so much.

I'd like to see him break Hogan's record this Saturday.

Daniel's also "Cattouse'd" someone from Louisville on one of his stronger runs on Saturday. Yes, I'm hopeful he and the team build on the momentum and bring the Stanford Axe home on Saturday. It may be a sloppy game with the weather.

Indeed......as BC mentioned in the Flooding/Lake Lag thread, we're in for a bit of wind and rain.

What do you all think? Is this a feature of the offense, or a bug? That's a lot of yards for a few wins. Even if they win out, this is at best a mediocre season. Of the Card's 3,249 yards, Daniels' 515 rushing yards represents 16 percent. That isn't outlandish, but it isn't what recent history suggests is a winning strategy. In other words he's not getting these yards only because there is no other way to move the ball, but no one thinks this is a consistently good offense. (Before checking the numbers, I thought it would be a higher percentage. Granted, he represents 38% of Stanford's rushing attack, which is probably far higher than anyone wants. Plus, he hasn't played every snap of every game.)
In 2010 Luck's 453 rushing yards were 7 percent of the total offense's 6,142 yards. Great season.
In 2009 Luck's 354 rushing yards were 6 percent of the total offense's 5,559 yards. Good season.
In 2013 Hogan's 355 rushing yards were 6 percent of the total offense's 5,675 yards. Great season.

Two words: Jayden Daniels.
My point is that it is possible to have a QB who runs a lot and is effective passing (LSU had the top scoring offense last year), but it usually takes someone supremely gifted to be good at both.
The best-case scenario for Ashton Daniels imo is that he turns into a faster John Mateer, QB of the WSU Cougars, who have a top 10 scoring offense. Mateer this year has a so-so completion percentage around 63% but a stellar TD/INT ratio of 26/6, all with 146 carries so far.

Very cool, thanks Terry.
To Jacket's point, so far Ashton Daniels' career W/L record is pretty much the opposite of Luck, Hogan, Bunce. But the QB keeper has been the most successful play of the TT offense, with occasional outbursts by Ayomanor and now Mosley.
LSJU had Luck and then Hogan at QB from 2008-15? That was like Montana and Steve Young. Halcyon days.
