From the Olympian heights David Shaw descends... -

Like his former boss, David Shaw enjoys the cryptic tweet from time to time. That time--today.
"I learned this from Coach Walsh: You can tell the unity of a team by watching the way they celebrate. âª#gostanfordâ¬"

So...everybody just celebrating for no reason whatsoever? Did anything happen recently worth celebrating?

I saw this tweet today and was also wondering about it. Did he just wake up and decide to share that with the world? Or did something interesting happen at practice today?

Now, to REALLY get the rumors flying: Vernon Hargreaves, considered by the recruting services to be one of the top two CBs in the country, visited Stanford today. His tweets about the experience were unremarkable. But Shaw's tweet...

I noticed that as well. Here's what Hargreaves said: "Great visit at Stanford! Coach Shaw is a great coach, even better person!"
He's visiting U.S.C. tomorrow.

Here's Shaw, being interviewed by Tom Tolbert on KNBR:

EDIT: Newsiest part of the interview is: Luke Kaumatule, Tight End. The coaches are excited about him.

And NO Barbieri running around biting ankles just because he can.
How was the turnaround accomplished?
Fight against that "Stanford stigma" that we were soft, played around the outside...(more)
Recruiting class: Getting the OL haul of the century: First time ever staff jumped up and high-fived. Point last Spring, Shaw said to staff " We aren't going to get all six of these guys, get as many as you can... We got them all" Last one was Murphy. They understood if Murphy went elsewhere after Peat committed, and then he came in, too.
How get all those guys? They know Stanford style of play. Even if a young guy is not starting, he knows the way we play he's going to get XX plays even in backup.
How he deals with pressures to decommit and how does he approach commits to other schools? (Guys who commit to others typically aren't going to do the academic work to get in [to Stanford]. (partial quote only. Not quite that harsh)
NCAA recruit contact relaxation via twitter, phone is bad thing.
QB competition shaping up? "Great question, only took you 15 minutes to get to it."  2 guys leading Josh, Nottingham midway through camp we'll see who can manage the team offense the best.
Re Skov: Easy decision (to sit a player) or hard? Shaw "Easy". "Shane doesn't have to prove a thing to us" Shaw said. They are going to be very smart in how they use him and get him back into football.
Fleener gone, Toilolo, Zach Ertz, who else? Ryan Hewitt, DE Luke Kaumatele moved to TE

What I liked about it was the enthusiasm about Stanford and the respect for athletes' privacy. It seems they're intertwined.
"The product that we're selling is so far and above a lot of things that are out there.
"I We're not going to be used car salesmen."
"What we;re selling, there are a lot of people out there that want it."
A lot of this is what's playing out with Isaac Savaiinea.
I just wonder why it's taken football coaches this long to figure this out.
