Certainly there are examples of transcendent freshmen talents that elevate their teams to pretty successful seasons (John Wall, Carmelo Anthony, Greg Oden/Mike Conley, Evan Turner, etc), but I think it depends on how well their style meshes with the rest of the team.
An example from UW recent history is Spencer Hawes who, as a relatively plodding dude, forced the Huskies to play a different brand of basketball than the pressure defense / high speed offense they\'d been playing with Nate and Roy. Â That team had very little cohesiveness, and I wasn\'t sorry to see Spencer jet for Sacramento.
I almost always prefer a guy who intends to stick around at least two years, but I admit I can talk myself into any potential prospect. Â "Well, Jones\'ll *probably* go pro after one year, but maybe he\'ll find that he loves his freshmen seminars *so much* that he\'ll commit to three more years. Â Yeah, that\'s probably what\'ll happen."
Terrence Ross, assuming he qualifies, should be a four year guy. Â
Man, thank god we don\'t have Stanford academic requirements at UW. Â
