Like others have said, there may be mitigating circumstances. What if, between December 7 and this morning, CMac felt a tweak or twinge that was an aftereffect of his midseason injury? Since we don't have all of the facts--and probably never will--I suppose that we should give him the benefit of the doubt.
If and when there is such information I may think differently. But he has stated that he is leaving his team before the end of the season to focus on the draft. You are making assumptions and attempting to rationalize with zero basis in fact. I take him at his word, I'm disappointed in him, and I criticize him for making a poor decision.

As anyone who follows you on twitter has seen you do consistently since it was announced.
I personally respect the kid for this. He is not quitting on his team,
they have been universally supportive of him on social media. It was fun to watch him for three years, take what you got from it and remember you have not walked in his shoes.

You seem to be using the fact that a few Stanford players have issued public positive tweets as support for your position. Can you conceive of a situation in which a Stanford player actually felt disappointment in their
captain walking out on them
and decided to ignite a sxxtstorm by tweeting their true feelings? I can't. Why? Because by and large, they're
team players. All of them except one, anyway.

What the team says publicly and how they feel privately can be two very different things. Still immensely respect him as a player and as I've stated previously I'm extremely thankful to have been able to watch him play live for much of his career. I haven't walked in his shoes, but that doesn't mean I can't say I disappointed in what I think is a poor decision that leaves a sour taste in my mouth - and that of many others - as he leaves the program.
This is NOT Sammy Sosa walking out on the Cubs on the last day of the season (and it turns out his career) because he wasn't going to be in the lineup. But that doesn't make it a good thing.

This is much more strange than what Sosa did. Sosa quit because he felt he was being disrespected. Christian is quitting to start individual draft prep, the same individual draft prep as every other player but he wants to start a couple weeks early.
