(I hope the team has mentally moved on to Notre Dame in a way that I haven't yet...)
My thoughts keep comparing this game to the 2010 game @Oregon, when the winner of the game went to the national championship.
Stanford up 21-3 at the end of the 1st quarter. Oregon scores then recovers a surprise onside kick to score again and change the entire momentum of the game. Stanford hangs on to lead 31-24 at the half. First drive of the 3rd quarter, Oregon knocks Chris Owusu unconscious and runs the ball back to the 3 yard line. Stanford has two more turnovers in the 2nd half and the game ends 52-31. Oregon goes to the national championship game instead of Stanford.
Frankly I was and still am more upset about the hit on Owusu than about losing the game. But even though the stakes were not as high this past Saturday, I'm still feeling like it's a bit of payback.
We've certainly had a decade of good games.
