I strongly encourage you to not watch his intro presser in Berkeley if the fact he was not hired at Stanford bothers you.
But, after watching it myself, it may very well be that Madsen didn't want to coach at Stanford. He made very clear that he is embracing NIL and the transfer portal in a very big way that may not be available to him at Stanford?

What he said is a truism. I haven't given up hope that after a few years there will be a way to sort out the good (allowing student athletes to retain and profit from their NIL) while reining in the bad (using NIL as a façade that allows pay-to-play inducements and makes a mockery of any remote idea that collegiate athletics is anything but a poor faccimile of professional athletics loosely affiliated with an ostensibly educational institution).

I seriously doubt that, my friend. You've too much invested to quit. Your level of involvement may decrease, there may be a shift away from NIL sports, but you'll still follow Stanford sports in particular, and college sports in general. So much of college sports has nothing to do with money, that's what makes college (and all sports), great.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that myself. Will NIL be a contagion that eventually effects all sports or is it just going to target Football, MBB, and, to a lesser extent, WBB? I really, really don't want Stanford to be a school where I'm just rooting for Cardinal colored laundry and WILL quit supporting any Stanford sport where the laundry wearers are no longer also Student-Athletes.
So how deep will the contagion reach? And, does the AD and University leadership have a plan?

I've not heard of athletes in the Olympic sports getting promises of large NIL deals, though someone mentioned something for women's gymnastics. My daughter just received her first invite to a junior day at an academically renowned school with an okay program. NIL never has even entered into her thought process. Doubt she even knows what it is. . . .

She's not a U.S. citizen which shouldn't matter for NIL deals. I give her props because she jeopardized her standing with the Brazilian coaches to take time off to pursue a physics degree at Georgia Tech.
When it comes to recruiting the best WVB prep players Stanford still gets the best in the country based on its academic reputation. I'm assuming there is no big NIL money going into Stanford WVB.
