So look for Jim to take another shot at becoming a Super Bowl champ since dealing with unrealistic NIL dreams, and constant transfer portal threats is probably not much better than dealing with pros, and their agents, in the NFL.

The rumor mill seems set for a few NFL destinations with better weather and good QBs, so I guess we will see soon enough.

However, nobody is going to dare to oppose his continued employment. He probably can even demand a new contract at a "premium" salary and get it. However, for both Michigan and Harbaugh personally there are problems ahead. The "cheating" scandal is not, IMO, the biggest one in JH's mind. The problem is the NCAA has claimed JH lied to them. The NCAA has demanded he admit that he lied and apologize (more or less). JH has refused. I believe that this is a "big deal" for him. He really doesn't want to admit he lied.

If the NCAA holds firm to this and demands he admit to the "facts", he may continue to refuse. IMO this is the impediment that may cause JH to elect going to the NFL right now. He is as "hot" a property as he will ever be right now. Any controversy with the NCAA will just take more of the "shine" off him. If he is going to go, now is the time, not next year when a "show cause" letter may result from refusing to admit wrongdoing. Just not worth the risk. I agree that JH wants to eventually win a Super Bowl. If there were no clouds on the horizon, he might defer that ambition to "later". Since that isn't the case, going now makes the most sense.

And I'm sure the Titans, Raiders, Chargers, Panthers, Falcons, and Commanders would be more than happy to loosen the purse strings. Belichick makes $25 mms., Payton is at $18m, and Carroll, McVay and Shanahan are between $14m and $15m. I think Harbaugh's deal with Michigan puts him at $12.5m (John Harbaugh is at $12m). My guess is JimH commands $20m from a desperate NFL team who will fire him less than five years into the contract, especially when free agents won't go to play for him.

Incidentally, I'm a little bummed that the Commanders fired ex-Bear Ron Rivera. I played ball against him in high school. Just a really good guy. His dad was a chief warrant officer at Fort Ord, served 32 years including two tours in Vietnam.

While I don't know him personally, he seemed to be a class act when he was working for a very bad owner and also exceeded expectations in both places where he had teams that had distinct manpower limitations. He has been coach of the year a couple of times and has often "done more with less". Don't know where he will land. Some on the Kal site hope that somehow he can, at least for a while, become associated with Kal football.

I bet Harbaugh doesn't risk that and opts to jump while right at the peak.

He could have stayed in the NFL.  And he's had multiple chances to jump already.

Hardballs use the same formula at Michigan that he used at Stanford.  Strength & Conditioning Coach was the foundation.

And just like when he was here, it looks like now that he has reached the level of success he thought was possible at Michigan he'll go back to the NFL.

When he was at Stanford it was clear to many in football that he was at Stanford to build that resume to then move up ASAP!

When he announced that Stanford players were "Champions" after winning the Orange Bowl it was depressingly clear he would leave soon.

Now in 2024 at Michigan he will forever be known as the Michigan Man that got the University of Michigan an undisputed national title, at least until they have to vacate the thing.  Even if they ultimately vacate the title he will be a legend in Ann Arbor and around the Michigan for giving them all the fond memories of January 8 2024.

And yet, while the family cheer is, "Who has it better than us (a.k.a. me)?....Nobody!"   The real answer is....his brother.

So look for Jim to take another shot at becoming a Super Bowl champ since dealing with unrealistic NIL dreams, and constant transfer portal threats is probably not much better than dealing with pros, and their agents, in the NFL.
