Agara has earned and gotten pretty good minutes this season. She brings enthusiasm and an offensive minded attitude that the team needs. She also plays like a freshman and forces the issue on offense and defense too often. She was very ineffective against Arizona in light of their highly aggressive defense. I think she can continue to help us as we go forward but the idea that she should take minutes from Jump makes no sense.
Harriel is also improving and giving us good backup guard minutes this season. It seems that her offensive potential is higher than Lepolo's but I think it's jumping the gun to assume she can maintain against a good team for an entire game like Lepolo. I would like to see them share some more of the point guard minutes but major changes aren't needed at this point. (Unless Lepolo is out for injury, in which case, there is no other option except having Harriel and Clardy share the minutes.) It's easy to see her as a savior who can bring us offense when Jump is being shut down because the defense has dedicated one of their players to exclusively face guard her and deny her the ball. However, if Harriel replaces some of Jump's minutes, the defense will likely be able to double or triple team Cam and Kiki resulting in fewer overall points. It feels a lot like the backup quarterback is always the player that fans think we need to improve. It's often based on frustration but not on the reality when that player takes over for others.

Karlie Samuelson, Lindy LaRocque, and Kiana Williams all also had what I would call "overuse" declines in their three point shooting during certain stretches, although Karlie's percentage her senior year was terrific, it was harder and harder to get her open so she could even take a shot, and (playing injured, I think?) she was 0/2 in that final loss to South Carolina.
LaRocque was more dramatic, going from .386 her junior year to .244 her senior year. Taylor Greenfield had a similar decline in three point shooting her senior year, as did Kayla Pedersen. Not sure why this happens so frequently. It does not happen to all three point shooters, but the senior slump seems to be a real phenomenon.
Williams shot better her senior year than her junior year, but seemed to wear down like a spinning top as we got deep into the NCAA tournament. The last 8 games in her Stanford career she made 5, 6, 4, 4, 2, 0, and 1 three point baskets. Of course the defenses improved over that stretch too, but the consensus at the time was that she was just exhausted by being our top perimeter defender, point guard, and a top scorer.

Yes, Karlie sprained an ankle pretty badly in the first half of that game. She tried to play some after that, but couldn't move well. Before that the game had been going well and I thought we had a great chance to win.

I am actually in agreement in re: to the minutes coming from Jump. And not because I don't think she contributes in meaningful ways. I think she does in a lot of ways! However, she averages close to 34 minutes a game, but that is brought down by a slew of games where we were winning heavily and she played only 20 minutes or so. Most meaningful games she is playing 35+ minutes, and many at 40 minutes. I think this is too many, and it is effecting her shooting. While she contributes in other ways, we really do need her to be able to make 3s and be an offensive threat from there. And she is just not hitting there like the years before. And I do believe it has to do with her tiring a bit from the large volume of minutes. Taking out 5 or 6 minutes of that time I think would drastically help her keep her legs for her shots.

While you don’t want to erode your player’s bodies, you do want them to be ready mentally & physically for the toughest game of their life.
Part of that is sharing time so the subs are ready to step in and play against the toughest opponent. Part of it is seeing what opponents do to thwart you.
I recall that the lady from Tara’s first ever team commented on how she wanted her team to be the one that lasted the longest on the court.
