I thought Maxime was the most likely to return, then Stojko, which looks to have happened. 

I don't think Carlyle returns because of the academic trouble he had at Stanford which won't exist at another place. It'd be fantastic if coach Smith went 3 for 3 though... And got a stud or 2 from the portal.

The six-foot-eight forward steadily improved during his time on the Farm, increasing his averages in points and rebounds each year.

Transferring to Stanford after spending his freshman season at UC Irvine, Kyle Smith, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball, has announced the addition of Derin Saran.

"We are thrilled that Derin is coming to Stanford. He is a complete student-athlete who has always coveted the idea of attending and playing basketball for the Cardinal," said Smith. "He gained valuable experience last year at UC Irvine playing point guard for the Big West champions.

A 6-4 guard from Istanbul, Turkey, Saran averaged 10.01 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game at UC Irvine in 2023-24, including shooting marks of 50.2 percent from the floor and 34.9 percent from 3-point range. He finished in double figures 16 times, including a career-high 17 points twice, at Cal Poly on Feb. 1 and vs. Cal State Fullerton on Jan. 4.

A three-year graduate from Duke, Blakes comes to Stanford as a two-time all-academic honoree in the ACC. He appeared in 83 games with three starts over a trio of seasons with the Blue Devils, averaging 2.2 points and 1.0 rebounds per game while operating as one of the program's top defensive players. Blakes averaged 1.8 points per night as a junior while grabbing a career-best 21 steals on the season, helping Duke advance to the NCAA Elite Eight. He previously reached the NCAA Final Four in 2021-22 as a freshman.

"Defensively, Jaylen gives us a defender with a pit bull mentality," continued Smith. "He has the ability to guard the ball which is vital to setting any defense. Being a college graduate, we will lean into his maturity and leadership. He has been a great role model and leader as a true student-athlete in prep school and college, and his knowledge and experience of the league will be helpful as we transition into the ACC."

Blakes joined the Duke program as a four-star, top-100 recruit via On3 and ESPN.
