Makes sense to me. Yeah, that's pretty snarky, but wut?
Welcome to the world of your team isn't in the Elite Eight every year Stanfordites!
(Not claiming to be some massive Jacket WBB fan or anything, so I had to look it up. Their best finish was a Sweet Sixteen. Twice. Ever. 2012 and 2021 which is interesting numerically at least. New coach seems OK to me. Tough league though....)
Was thinking the same in re jacket3tree's first point. I personally would prefer an open search process where a) we think outside the Stanford bubble and b) if (IF!) TDV participates in the selection, her input isn't given more weight than any of the others on the selection committee.
Are open searches always perfect? No (e.g. FB's selections of Taylor & Harris), but at least it opens things up and allows for
the possibility of getting some diamond-in-the-rough out there. We know we're, for better or for worse, in a new era of collegiate athletics so I think we need to cast a wider net - kinda like
When all's said and done, if the last person standing after an open search is a Stanford alum/affilliate, fine - if not, that's fine too.
