Agree it seems a bit long to think the decision over unless his wife/family wanted some time getting comfortable with the idea of moving to the Bay Area. He has lived in Honolulu, HI, Seattle, WA, Calgary, Alberta, Tucson, AZ, and Austin, CA so don't think culture shock should be an issue. Maybe sticker shock is a bigger concern. Clearly the folks in Texas think highly of Akina and worry about him returning to recruit kids to Stanford against UT. Another thought (purely a strawman) is that, since he had an Asst. HC title under Mack Brown, he may think he's more qualified for a DC spot.
