the only 5th year senior I think we will really miss is Callahan, purely because of our lack of depth at NT. hopefully Anan can contribute soon, or the coaches have a contingency plan for converting an OG to a DT.

Callihan has appeared in five games over his time at Stanford - I believe all in garbage time. It's hard to see how sticking around another year would lead to much playing time.

Lyons on the other hand would have been one of two or three returning DBs with any starting experience (the "or three" is contingent upon Hoffpauir's baseball future). There is little doubt he would play a lot in 2015 if he were to return; and most likely would have begun the season as a starter. As such, his loss will have an impact on the team.
