Honestly!!
They "picked" AT&T park because it would not be possible to get the Raiders, the A\'s and the Bears in the Coliseum at once.
The press release mentioned public transportation, etc. Â Are they serious? Â The Oakland Coliseum has its very own BART stop. Â Getting from UC-B to the Oakland Coliseum via BART would be easy for their students and the majority of their fans that use BART. Â I guess the public transportation concept eliminated Candlestick, but Oakland had to be choice #1.
The problem likely came down to the possibility of the A\'s in the playoffs. Â If the As make the playoffs in 2011 then there would be a big problem. Â It simply would not be possible to have all three teams playing in early October at the same time.
The seats at AT&T are really bad, and the place requires both teams to be on the same side. Â That may be OK for a bowl game, but would seem to present big problems for an entire season.
The USC fans are already really angry because this little plan certainly will eliminate their ability to attend the game. Â Not that this is a big deal for me.
I guess the good news is that this will really force them to stay on that ~24 month construction project schedule. Â Could you imagine if the project slips and the Bears need to find a home for the 2012 Big Game.
I have to think that the Oakland Coliseum would be announced as the venue because at that point any MLB season would be complete.
