I've wondered about the Winston-Stanford near miss on more than one occasion (usually when he gets into trouble). I knew he had been offered, but I didn't know he had been accepted. Several articles announcing his commitment are all dated August 3, 2011.

Are recruits (even "special" ones) typically accepted that early? I'm presuming the latest date of acceptance might be fairly immediately prior to national signing day, but what would be the earliest date?
