My own comment was not on the overall topic of discussion here, but specifically on the rather odd contention that "intent doesn't really matter with hate speech". As I understand the term "hate speech", the entire construct is based upon intent - intent to harm somebody because of their religion, race, etc.
Thus I thought that stupac might be going for some further unstated proposition with the oxymoron.
I thought that calling it "trolling" would be clear. A troll is a person who says things he doesn't believe in order to get a reaction. It seems completely clear to me that a skinhead vandalizing a building with a swastika has a completely different mindset than someone who doesn't actually hate Jews, but wants to stir the pot. Whether or not that matters in terms of hate speech is something I'm not certain about (and frankly I don't really care).
All I know is that the idea that Stanford is inhospitable toward Jews is completely ludicrous based on my time there. Really the idea that academia, where Jews are probably the most overrepresented minority, is hostile to Jews is the sort of proposition that we should be really skeptical about.
