Wouldn't that be like hanging a noose from a tree to send a message that a fraternity was racist? Even if the intent was to make a statement about sae, it was such callous disregard for the sensitivities attached to the symbol that it was blatantly offensive to Jews (and more broadly to anyone with reasonable sensitivities), just like a noose would be blatantly offensive to Blacks, but more broadly to anyone who saw it.
