If you want Mexican food, go to a Mexican neighborhood. Mexican restaurants in Northern California are better at enchiladas than burritos. You can get a good burrito, sometimes in a shop rather than a dedicated restaurant, but go to a Mexican neighborhood. Chipotle is fast food. It is decent, but it's more like the In-N-Out of burritos, good for what it is.

As for Arizona, try the Tamale Factory in Tucson. I never knew masa and filling could taste so good!
